Customer Reviews

I highly recommend this series to anyone who likes paranormal romance.
Liz @ Fictional Candy
The plots are terrible, the writing is sub-standard, the characters are laughable and the supposedly "hot" sex scenes are just plain missing.

This has a great story with steamy scenes along with action and suspense I loved this book.

I loved this book. I was really excited when I realized that this author was going to do the one thing that I wished most authors would do. She finished the story so completely that there was no question as to how it turned out. I hate books where the author leaves it open for the readers imagination to take over. It always leaves me with the question of "What happened after?" The story was well written and had enough twists that it was never boring. The characters were lively and well thought out. I give it a big thumbs up.

Warning: This book is very graphic and since this is a review, I feel I should warn you that if you have anything against violence and abuse of women, this may not be the book for you. The main character ,Lily, is kidnapped three times, by three diffrent men.

I love urban fantasy. I read Kelly Armstrong, Keri Authur, Patrica Briggs, Karen Chance, Jocelynn Drake, Jennifer Estep, Jeaniene Frost, Jess Haines, Charlaine Harris, Kim Harrison, Faith Hunter, JR Rain, Ann Rice, Jeanne Stein, and JR Ward among others. This is the first and last Heather Killough-Walden book I will ever read. I was so upset by this book, and so surprised that people actually liked it.

Spoilers****
The fact that the female protagonist named Lily is kidnapped three times in the book is ridiculous, but what really bothered me was her reaction to her werewolf kidnappers. The first werewolf, Daniel, takes Lily to his house, throws her over his shoulder, carries her to his bed where he handcuffs her there. He chokes her, kisses her, and she gets hot. The author tells us that it is werewolf powers that arose with a kiss, but to me its sexual assault. When the book reads, ...I've fallen for my rapist. For my murderer..." and he grabbed her hair and roughly yanked her head back and kisses her. "Moisture pools between her legs". He cuts his hand and then her arm, letting his blood flow into hers and marks her as his mate. This makes her hot and moist and she orgasms from his kiss.

After Daniel leaves Lily is again kidnapped by another werewolf. She is put in a car with other male werewolves and she is forced to drink a glass of wine. The wine makes her moist between her legs. She moans and the heat between her legs becomes uncomfortably demanding. Lily was just kidnapped, she is in a car with strange werewolves, and a glass of wine makes sexually excited. Wine has always has that effect on her, its not werewolf magic.

I loved this book, although I love all Heather's books. She creates a new twist in all her stories. In the The Heat, just like in her other books, the characters came alive for me. The guys are big, bad and hot, the gals are smart, fiesty, and not wimpy. Even the bad guy has some redeeming qualities.
I love paranormal romance, actually I just love romance, and this is a great PR.
I HIGHLY recommend this book to all my kindle buddies. Trust me on this, it's good, the price is right and I guarantee you'll enjoy it.

Heather's characters in The Heat show that be it male or female, strength and brains are sexy and enticing. Her writing style is clean and flowing, drawing you in and keep you there. This is an exciting and fast paced read, well worth your time and beyond a value in the price. My recommendation is take a trip to the Big Easy and enjoy it!

I am a fan of paranormal romance and I ran across this book and decided to take a chance. It was only a dollar so what did I have to loose? What a pleasant surprize! The bad guys/wolves are really bad and the good guys/wolves are frightening and delicious. Actually, there is one bad guy in this book that will have you almost rooting for him but his is another story.... Both the male and female characters are strong and unforgettable. This is a gripping series with each book only getting better. I have read The Heat, The Strip and I am on the last pages of The Spell and I am completely hooked.

Although I have never tried this genre before, I was surprised at how much I enjoyed reading about werewolves. The author is a talented story teller who kept me reading all night long and then the story continued in my dreams! I became emotionally involved with the characters and found myself really hoping things would work out for them. The tale took me away from reality and into a world that was fun and entertaining and sexy. What more can you ask of a good book? And although I would never want what happened to poor Lilly to happen to anyone in real life, it was an exciting and erotic fantasy.

I believe many women have romanticized about a handsome dangerous man who might throw them over his shoulder and take them away. Thank goodness for our ability to separate fantasy from reality. And kudos to Killough-Walden whose imaginative writing gives us such thrills while we are really safe and sound snuggled up with our e-readers.
