Book Description

"Easy reading mixed with intensity, empathy, romance and mystic playfulness. I was able to immerse myself in the story and feel the connection between the characters Vivian and Seth. I could imagine the adventure as I was reading. It was a get lost in, feel good book." ~ Colleen

"This story intertwines mystical beings, tragedy, loss, redemption and love. You'll be drawn into this fantastical world from the first chapter."
~ Moonscapedreamer

"Centaurs, fairies, witches and werewolves; this book has got it all.  If you're into supernatural or you enjoyed the 'Twilight' series this should appeal to you."
~ Andrew

Vivian, a courageous nineteen year old girl, is considered out of the realm of "norm". She has been shunned by her family, her human family that is, and finds herself on a dangerous journey, first saving a boy named Seth who has been bitten by a werewolf, to desperately needing to find the "Book of the Hidden". Vivian has some difficult decisions to make which involve either accepting what might be her last chance at everlasting love, or doing what seems to be the right thing at the time.

Some people called them miracles, angels or fate. Others ignored the fact that any of those things could be real. If they ever knew the truth, they wouldn't believe it, denying like they do everything out of the realm of "norm." But if any of them looked past their fear to something different, beyond the disaster, they could see them.

The "Book of the Hidden" is a young adult fantasy romance story.

2.0 out of 5 stars Interesting Idea, But Reads Like A Rough Draft June 20, 2012
By Liz W.
Format:Kindle Edition
Witch sisters Vivian and Jean are leaders of the Underground, a secret magical society and haven for supernatural creatures who seek asylum from the hatred of mankind. When a mean-spirited werewolf, Astrid, attacks teenager Seth and infects him with lyncanthropy, Vivian brings him into the safety of the Underground. "Turning" a human against their will is a crime in the Underground, so she has Astrid banished.

In order to cure Seth, Vivian seeks the missing Book of the Hidden, a tome of magic that can reverse his transformation. She quickly finds it, but by this time, the two have fallen in love. Non-magical humans aren't allowed to live in the Underground. Although Vivian knows that Seth will be better off with a normal life, Seth insists that he would rather stay afflicted than live on the surface world without her. Meanwhile, the bitter Astrid seeks revenge against the pair.

The concept of such a society as the Underground is an interesting idea that an author could do a lot with, as is the scenario of sacrificing personal happiness for a loved one. Unfortunately, the novel reads like a rough draft. While a lot can be accomplished in 120 pages, the whole tone of the story feels rushed. This prevents the reader from really getting to know the characters and the world they live in. In addition, there were numerous spelling mistakes, grammatical errors, and run-on sentences. Most teen readers will probably not mind such nit-picky mistakes, and in fact enjoy the story regardless. For others, you may want to look elsewhere. Recommended for Ages 16-18.

3.0 out of 5 stars meh. June 7, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book drags you right in to the fold with a surprise attack on one of the main characters. I think this book/story had great potential but really fell kinda short for me. It could be that it is geared towards teenagers that would not catch a lot of the things that I did. There was a lot of editing errors that really needed to be fixed, simple things as spelling should not be an issue with a book that has been published. I also feel that more development around Vivian and her skills would have been an asset for this book. The love story was easy, without hardly any steam. For a woman of 20, you would have thought there would be more heat between the couple. This one was just okay for me. I give it three fangs.

1.0 out of 5 stars worst young adult paranormal book ive ever read June 16, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I downloaded this book when it was offered free and honestly it wasn't worth the time it took to download it. It is SO bad that I seriously cannot fathom what the previous reviewers were thinking. (They all read so much alike it makes me wonder if they're all friends of the author.)

Yes this book has multiple types of paranormal creatures - fairies, werewolves, witches, etc. But tons of supernatural characters does not a good story make.

I loved paranormal / supernatural stories, especially adventure/romance ones. I've read tons of amazing stories in this genre and this is NOT one of them. I am only 1/4 of the way through the book and I don't think I'll even finish it. (And I have NEVER not finished a book.)

The story just picks up out of the blue with a teen girl witch driving around when she suddenly hears some "fighting"/"banging" in an adandoned old shack out near the road so she stops to go check it out for whatever reason. Then she encounter a bitchy female werewolf in dog form who has just bitten a teenage boy (who is, of course, great looking). Who knows why they were in an abandoned shack on the side of the road. No vehicle outside the shack is mentioned, so one can only imagine how they even got there. The boy never explains it either.

When they meet, you have been given basically no background on either of the characters, so you're not emotionally invested enough in either character to really give a crap what happens to them. He is changing into a werewolf which he hates, but he's a stranger to me so I don't care. Vivian says that she thinks there is something to return him to "normal" in the "book of the hidden" which is a book about all supernatural beings.

Teen witch (Vivian) is falling for him (Seth) immediately.
