Book Description

In the fantasy quest, The Hidden Crystal, Sarac, a young, student magician is beaten and cast aside when Alena, a priestess he loves, is captured and carried off to sea by marauders who torch his village in search of the Crystal of Fire.

Sarac resolves to rescue Alena, though doesn’t realize that his urgent quest is part of a greater purpose; the Crystal of Fire is one of four Crystals of Power ancient Wizards created to prevent the terrible planetary upheaval their world suffers every one thousand years. Sarac must find the Crystals of Power and unite them before the Fall Equinox when the red planet Nibiru comes into alignment with their planet or all will be lost.

Naga, an evil sorcerer, who led his soldiers in search of the Crystal of Fire, seeks the Crystals of Power as well for a different purpose, to enslave all mankind and gain dominion over their world regardless of the devastation it will cause.

With the help of Joran, a wizard of immense power, Sarac faces increasing threats from the approaching cataclysm which is starting to rain destruction on their planet, and from Naga who is determined to retrieve the Crystals of Power at all costs. The urgency of their quest increases when Sarac learns that Naga is torturing Alena to get her to reveal the location of the remaining Crystals of Power. As the Fall Equinox approaches, Sarac struggles to unravel an ancient prophecy, defeat Naga, rescue Alena, and ultimately save their world from violent destruction.

Editorial Reviews

From the Author

Since an early age, I've been interested in fables and fairy tales. Fourteen years ago I was in college and the inkling of a vision came to me.

After reading over 300 books and researching mythologies and religions from around the world, that vision coalesced into The Hidden Crystal.

The Hidden Crystal is a spiritual and fantasy adventure parable. It is a novel of adventure and passion. It is also a story of transformation where Sarac, (the questing hero) meets a magus figure who reveals how to activate the hidden spiritual power that lays dormant within all of us.

Follow the story of Sarac―a young man, alone in a strange land who finds everything that he cares about taken from him as he is thrust into a perilous quest to recover the two things which matter most: the woman he loves and the four Crystals of Power which have the potential to do great good, or in evil hands, rip the world apart.

Hope you enjoy it as much as I did writing it.

Best,

Daniel Gimness

5.0 out of 5 stars A very good read. October 3, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I loved the attention to detail in this book. The unique world and characters kept surprising me, making me want to read more. The story of the lone hero seeking to rescue his beloved takes many new twists; Sarac is a daydreaming student-wizard, somewhat indecisive and full of doubts, yet who never fails in his quest to save his beloved healer-girlfriend, Alena, from the evil sorcerer Naga. Magic and swords face numerous bizarre monsters as they trek across a devastated land. I liked the ancient mythology of hidden crystals of power which forces Sarac to act as both detective and leader of numerous colorful secondary characters. The ending made The Hidden Crystal well-worth the reading. I highly recommend it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Epic Fantasy Novel August 28, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I picked up this book and could not put it down. Every time I had to leave it I couldn't wait to get back to it again.

This book has everything: Tragedy, romance, action, suspense and awesome world building. I connected with the characters from page one, learning each and every one of them. Sarac and Alena were wonderfully created. Naga, the evil sorcerer had me cringing and I found myself loving to hate him.

The plot is well written and it is in typical fantasy style, good versus evil. Gimness describes a fascinating world. I was able to visualize every place that he took me in the story. I loved the cities and fortresses.

The action scenes were probably my favorite part of this book. The way Gimness walks you through these battles makes you feel like it is being played out right in front of you.

If you are a fantasy enthusiast, this is a great read.

Wow! What a great read! The Hidden Crystal is fun, scary, romantic and intense fast paced story likened to the thrilling ride on a roller coaster. I loved Sarac the 'magician in training' falling hard for the lovely Alena only to have her torn from his grasp by the bad guy an evil wizard called Naga along with the precious 'Crystal of Fire' one four needed to have ultimate power as greed-minded mongers so want. Set in a world where scary spike-tailed Dakeths and powerful lizard-like Amorks run amuck and all chasing them intent with one thing on their mind. Kill Sarac. I especially liked the mythical references of crystals of power, ancient runes, symbolic tatoo's and many magical symbols of ancient lore. This is all heightened by Sarac's 'crash course' on getting wiser or die which is so real life it hurts. Serenity comes in the form of an wizened old wizard named Joran who helps him along with two gladiator style side kicks named Borack and Samsun. It's a thrilling ride from beginning to end and well worth reading. Don't miss it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Magic in the evening September 26, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
The Hidden Crystal is an EXCELLENT book! It has suspense, romance, adventure, colorful characters and the writing is sublime. I would come home from work, have dinner and then jump on the couch just to spend a magical evening reading this book. I felt lost in the book, like I have felt with very few others or being lost in a great movie. The characters are well fleshed out and the surroundings believable. It only took three nights too read, every word was like a fresh strawberry and I just couldn't put it down until I had to. Wait till you read the climax! I am looking forward to reading The Hidden Crystal again soon!

5.0 out of 5 stars Something for everyone September 20, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
This is one of those books that you simply cannot put down. It has fast-paced action from the very first page that sucks you in and doesn't let you go. It's fantasy, of course, but it has a little something for everyone...action, suspense and romance. On top of that, the vivid imagery and the great scene detail really draws you in and puts you right in the middle of the story. The character development is very well done. I especially think the author did a superb job with Sarac but the other characters were also developed very well. This is one of the most entertaining books Ive read so far this year. Looking forward to seeing more.
