If you're looking for a book that not only inspires you but also makes you see the bible in a new light, then this is definitely the book! I enjoyed it immensely and in fact gave it as gifts - and everyone who got one seemed happy with it too :) Seriously, though, not only is it a fresh perspective and amusing, but it does these things without loosing any of the message. A great book indeed!

Almost exactly what I was expecting from a book with the word hillbilly in the title. It took me back to the southern lit days of "their eyes were watching God" or something...
and yes I read all 100 or so pages out loud and giggled the whole time.
This book is light hearted, funny and very true idea of what if Jesus was from the south y'all? One of my favorite quotes: "I'm gonna be here shinin' just a little bit longer y'all. Waller in the light while ye can, so's ye won't trip and fall when it gets dark."
and yes I read all 100 or so pages out loud and giggled the whole time.

Great book. Not at all sacrilegious, IMO. Very close to Scripture. The 1 star is spoken like a true Pharisee. Lighten up. Laugh a little. :D The hillbilly-ese is very accurate, coming from one who knows personally. As I was reading this book aloud to another. A comment was made about how naturally the words rolled off my tongue...lol. :)

love it
This is a very interesting version of the Gospel of John. As a southerner it's easy for me to understand, and a couple of times I laughed out loud, but the message is still clear!

Very nice
I bought this as a gift for one of the pastors at my church. He got a kick out of it but I still have yet to hear him quote from it on a Sunday morning :)
