Product Description

Follow Lauren to LA as she attempts to balance a demanding internship at Teen Vogue and a full course load with a demanding nightlife and a full social calendar. But at least she won’t have to do it alone. Along the way she meets several friends who expose her to a different part of the city, each chasing their own dreams. The Hills tells the story of four young women on their own for the first time and the fun, laughter and drama that they all share.

Fans of Laguna Beach will love the first season of The Hills, which follows Laguna's Lauren Conrad as she attends fashion school in Los Angeles and works as an intern at Teen Vogue magazine. OK, so that's the premise for this quasi-reality MTV series. But in reality, the show is an excuse to watch pretty young people make out, break up, get back together, and break up some more. The show has more in common with a daytime drama than a documentary; none of the subjects worries too much about paying rent for their glamorous apartments or designer clothes. But when it comes to dating, the Geneva Convention could learn a thing or two about negotiating from these gals. Lauren fans may be dismayed to learn that Jason, the monosyllabic Lothario who cheated on her in the second season of Laguna Beach is back. And instead of going on dates with the thousands of young men who would love to have a pretty blonde on their arms (and get the opportunity to appear on TV to boot!), Lauren allows Jason to get back into her good graces--even though he hasn't matured since high school. Or figured out how to treat a woman. Or learned how to talk better. It's actually heartbreaking watching her struggle with a relationship that we can all see is doomed. Or is it?

The season finale ends with the kind of dilemma we all wish we could've faced when we were 19 or 20: spend the summer working in Paris or move into a beach house with your boyfriend and frolic on the beach for three months. Paris? Jason? Hmmmm. You'd think that'd be a no-brainer. Also on hand to offer support are Lauren's friends Heidi and Audrina. The cast always looks chic and freshly made up (even after getting out of bed) and the cameras somehow always manage to be in the right place to capture romantic moments (and drama). It's easy to make fun of this show because of the preposterous setup that this sun-kissed life is reality for a group of kids who don't seem to have to work that hard for their privileged lives. But therein lies the guilty pleasure. We know it's a fantasy created by MTV. And while we would kill for the rocking apartments, cars, and clothes, there is no way most of us would endure being publicly humiliated to get 15 minutes of fame. --Jae-Ha Kim

4.0 out of 5 stars Better than Season 3 of 'LAGUNA BEACH' December 2, 2006
Its kinda hard for me to admit that I watched LAGUNA BEACH and this premier season of THE HILLS, especially with all the jokes I make about the two series. But being the exact target age of both shows (20 years old), I feel into the original LAGUNA BEACH watching it as it aired durring the final stretch my senior year of High School so I have a small emotional connection to the show as the characters where going through the same things tha I was when it was on the air.

Season's two and three of LAGUNA BEACH though where boarderline annoying and I found myself barely ever watching them. But THE HILLS is different, Lauren was always my favorite 'character' and it was pretty interesting to actually see her grew out of her teenage self and into a young woman - and all the fictionalization that came along with it...

THE HILLS follows Lauren as she moves to Los Angeles (But I'm pretty sure its Santa Monica), and how life changes for her as she enrolls in Fashion School and gets an internship at Teen Vogue and all the Drama that comes along with her roomate, coworker, exboyfriend, and growing up.

A Kid's Review
I'm actually over the age to be using this form but I'm too lazy to make an account so yeah..

Wow, The Hills is like my favorite show ever! I love all the drama and everything that goes on, which sounds pretty bad, but I just enjoy watching it.

Omg, Jason is sooo hot! I think that he and Lauren made a really good couple, but I understand why they broke up.

I also think that Lauren is going to make it very far in her life because she has a good work ethic. Man, I wish I had an internship at Teen Vouge! She is so lucky. She's my favorite character on the show. You would think that someone as rich and lucky and beautiful as her would be really stuck-up, but she doesn't seem like she's like that at all.

Well, if you're still reading this boring thing, BUY THE HILLS!

5.0 out of 5 stars My Favorite Seaon of The Hills February 3, 2010
This season of The Hills is my favorite, because it was when Heidi, and Lauren were the closet of friends, now five years later things have changed a lot. I am not happy the way things turned out. It's sad, because I think they would of lived through their friendship longer than it lasted if it wasn't for Spencer, and the fame that he wanted out of it, and I think he used Heidi to get fame, and to get money. It's sad what Hollywood can do to your relationships. I think this is the only season that is pure, and not as scripted as the other seasons. I have watched all the seasons at least twice. Things come, and go in life, and sometimes you even get more than what you asked for. I have to say this I am proud that Lauren left The Hills on her own, I knew she wasn't in it for the fame like some others. I see Lauren as a great role model. Lauren has been on Seventeen Magazine four times now, that's amazing, and I am proud of her. I think everything Lauren has, she has worked hard for as shown in this first season, she could be anyone's best friend. I think this is a must own season, because it shows what people go through starting out finding their way for themselves.

5.0 out of 5 stars I LOVE the Hills!!! August 1, 2009
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
I love traveling with Lauren Conrad, Audrina Patridge, Heidi Montag and Whitney Port throughout the glamorous life that is Hollywood, CA. Ever since the Hills came out on DVD, I have been absolutely intrigued and enthralled whenever I watch the girls on this reality show. This show is packed with drama, emotions riding high from Lauren traveling to New York City, only to deliver a dress to Lisa Love, West Coast editor at Teen Vogue, to Heidi hating her new "dream job" at Bolthouse productions.... I absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this show, and recommend it to ANYONE who wants to watch the glamorous life of California!!!!!

3.0 out of 5 stars No subsance but enjoyable for silliness September 19, 2007
The Hills, like Laguna Beach, is definitely a guilty pleasure. I usually watch silly shows like this one when I'm in lab working on projects since they don't require a lot of concentration. Season 1 seems to stress on nightlife and boys, but seriously LA is more than just nightlife and boys. I suppose these kids are young, and their parents are rich. There's no point in them working hard because no one is depending on them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Head For The Hills January 28, 2007
A Kid's Review
Wow! This show is very very diffrent to Laguna Beach but it is still wonderful. It is a must have for any Lauren Conrad fan's out there. You Know L.C from Laguna, well its time to meet Lauren she is all grown up and headed for the Hills. In this reality TV spin-off series of Laguna Beach. New friends, New City, New Girl. Laurens not in Laguna anymore she is in hollywood. Watch Lauren grow as she gets her dream internship at Teen Vouge Magizine. Lauren makes new friends Audrina, and Whitney (other intern) and most Laguna Fan's may remember Hedi from the few episodes she was on in Laguna Beach season 2 (including the fashion show episode) Yep thas right the episode when Jason cheated on Lauren with Jessica. And yes you got it Jason is back, and he has one thing on his mind LAUREN. If you thought Laguna had drama who havent seen anything yet. Get Set for on bumpy ride in The Hills. Live Life with these fresh adults Lauren, Hedi. Whitney, Audrina, Jason, Jordan and Brian in the city that never sleeps 'HOLLYWOOD'.
