I was turned on to these guys after hearing the song "Ovum" on Sirius one day. The sheer power of that song blew me away on the 1st listen, which is rare for me. It made me think back to the early 90s when I was listening to great death/thrash stuff from Exodus/Possessed/Carcass/Entombed etc. Daath doesn't really sound like those bands, they just have a certain energy that is very focused and executed so well. Well, The Hinderers isn't as super heavy like I thought it might be, it's definitely very polished though. On a heaviness scale I find them somewhere between Goatwhore and Cradle of Filth, but with better all-around musicianship. One thing I love about this disc is that the songs are pretty straightforward, they don't mess around before getting to the good stuff for the most part.

As a side note, I highly recommend seeing them live. I just read they are going to be on Ozzfest this year, so if you are planning on taking your little brother and his friends, at least you will have one great band to see while you're waiting it out.

Yeah, I know it came out less then a week ago, but it was leaked a long time ago on the net. Despite having heard this CD for months, I still was a first day buyer. Daath's music is simply catchy enough to keep it fresh in the mind of the listener for a VERY long time. Every track is amazing and heavy, with Ovum being a good indicator of the whole CD. If you've heard and liked Ovum, this will not disappoint. And if you liked this cd, a 10 track promo of it was leaked that contains some songs that did not actually appear on the CD. I suggest checking those songs out as well.

This is the one cd that I am constantly recommending to everyone. This bands success seems to be disproportional to the quality of their music and I think that if you are any kind of fan of Heavy Music, The Hinderers is a must.

I saw the music video for subterfuge and I liked it so much that I got this cd which is something I normally don't do or would do. I have to say that the risk paid off because this is a good metal cd. I like the majority of the songs which pack quite the metal punch full of energy which will have you bangin' your head. There are 1 or 2 songs I don't really care for but who knows they might grow on me with time.

All the playing sounds good from the guttural vocals to the heavy guitars and drumming. There are synths and keyboarding thrown in most of the songs especially on dead on the dance floor which gives then an industrial feel but they are in every way a true metal band as opposed to an industrial metal band.

Anyways if you're looking for a good metal cd to pump you up then I highly suggest that you get this cd.

Daath's 2nd album, "The Hinderers", is their big breakthrough album, and it is a rather great album as well. Having it be their first label release, it is an album that shows much improvement over the mediocre produced album "Futility" they released independently in 2004.

The music Daath produces is a coalesce of sorts. On first listen, it reminded me vastly of DevilDriver, since Sean Faber's vocals sound somewhat similar to Dez Fafara's vox. We also have a keyboard that adds industrial elements to their mixture in a few songs (most notably "Dead on the Dance Floor"). This album also has excellent variety, whether it would be the speed thrash-esque "Ovum", the excellent riffage in "Above Lucium", or the outstanding "Festival Mass Soulform". Kevin Talley of Dying Fetus/Chimaira/Misery Index/etc fame does the drum work on this album, and if you heard any of his works he previously did his time in, you'll enjoy this.

Overall, if you're looking for a refreshing album, "The Hinderers" is your choice of album. Only flaw is that there are two songs missing from their pre-mastered version of this album leaked in 2006 ("Inversion" and "Illuminator", you might have to do some file sharing for those songs), but then again, it's an excellent album that I highly recommend, especially from something released by a label that's degrading.

And better than ever might I add. I love there first CD so I knew this CD was going to be good. After hearing "Ovum", "Cosmic Forge", "Dead On The Dance Floor" "From The Blind" and "Suberfuge" way before the CD was gonna be released I just knew this was going to be an amazing and very original album. I must say I was right. Normally, I will find a few songs I don't care for at all but I must admit there is not one single bad song on this album. This is just a HUGE step from there last CD and I am very impressed. I really recommend checking out DÅÅTH. This will be hands down one of the BEST CD's to come out this year in 2007.

Well I must admit at first I was not hooked. I listen to all types of metal and lots of metal with growling, but always takes a bit of time before I am comfortable enough to buy a cd. However, after listening to the 3 songs they had on myspace a couple times I bought it. I am blown away. I do agree with the reviewer that said it reminds him of Dez from DD. "Who Will Take the Blame" actually reminded me alittle of Static-X from there Wisconsin Death Trip album (which by the way I feel was there best album). Back to this cd, it is great with a lot of variety. I recommend anyone looking for a excellent metal cd with alittle twist.
