Book Description

March 16, 2010
The History of the Peanut Allergy Epidemic by Heather Fraser is a must-read for every parent, teacher, and health professional. This far-reaching history of the current epidemic of peanut allergy provides compelling answers to why this condition develops primarily in children and how its prevalence has ballooned to over 3 million people in the US alone. Heather Fraser, an historian and mother of a peanut allergy child, pinpoints the precise moment of this allergy's appearance and describes the perfect storm of social, medical, political and economic factors from which it has grown. With an international overview-more than sixteen geographical locations are analyzed-and thirty pages of endnotes and appendices, Fraser has delivered a meticulously documented and illuminating account of a growing epidemic. Heather Fraser, MA, BA, B.Ed is a Toronto-based writer and the mother of a child who has a peanut allergy.

5.0 out of 5 stars FOOD ALLERGIES ARE TOO COMMON May 2, 2010
By J. Vala
I'm writing this review as a mother who's daughter has several food allergies. Around her first birthday, my daughter began to develop food allergies as well as environmental at a rapid pace. My family soon lived and still lives a life of seeing doctors every 2 weeks; constant vigilance on foods she intakes; sleepless nights (due to eczema scratching); social gatherings skip due to certain food(s) being served; and limited traveling.
With our world turned upside down I decided to do research to answer questions many doctors cannot. Research led to a major decision of ceasing all my daughter's vaccinations. Her immune system has been pulled down and vaccinations would cause more harm than good.
I decided to purchase this book to help me understand why in the world this is happening to our precious daughter. And it has helped answer questions on vaccinations and connections to the surge in peanut allergy.

I believe this author is the first to take a bold approach and show evidence that allergic reactions to peanuts are connected to what is in the vaccines. Reactions of all kind have occurred with vaccines - patients paralyzed, anaphylactic reactions, and even death. These severe reactions at the time of injection should tell us, if this could happen, why can't other reactions occur? Could the vaccine that my son/daughter received a month earlier be the cause of his/her sudden onset of anaphylaxis to wheat, milk, peanuts, etc?

We must question what is happening to our children with the steep rise in food allergies, and I'm glad there is someone brave enough to take the first step.

Having a child with this allergy for 16 years, I have been asked the question hundreds, perhaps thousands of times. "What is causing all of these children to have an allergy to peanuts so severe that they can die?" "When I went to school we didn't have all of these kids with peanut allergies!" Numerous theories, excuses and explanations have been given over the years by doctors and researchers, but now we have a documented, referenced (including medical) history book of who, what, when, where and why. You will be stunned to read the cause. You may never look at health professionals the same way again. Did they know?

EVERYONE should read this book. This could be one of the most important books of the decade. And the millions of children and their families living day in and day out with this deadly allergy now have an answer when they are asked 'WHY?'

5.0 out of 5 stars About time someone wrote about this!! March 24, 2010
I have read a pile of food allergy books and they all say the same garbage - the sudden increase in food allergies is probably because we are too clean. How can suddenly being too clean account for the doubling of peanut allergy in the five years since combination vaccines were introduced? How can being too clean account for the absence of peanut allergy in Israel yet when Israelis move to the UK their children get peanut allergy at the same rate as the other children? (They don't have PA in Israel because they have a sesame allergy problem... sesame oil is also used in vaccines.)

Every parent should have a copy of this book when they visit their doctor. And the first question the doctor should be asked is "Did you know that you injected my child with peanut oil?" Doctors actually believe that all the ingredients of the vaccines are listed on the package inserts. They don't know that medicines can have trade secret ingredients. It is time they got educated!

Buy several copies of this book. Every parent with a school age child should have this information.
