5.0 out of 5 stars It's nothing like Rubic's cube February 15, 2013
Verified Purchase
When I got my first glance at this game, I thought it might be similar to that sadistic puzzle from the 80's called Rubic's cube. Thankfully it's nothing like that. Instead, it's more akin to mahjong.

The concept is simple: Match the small cubes within the large 3D cube. When a pair of small cubes is matched, they disappear until all the cubes are matched. That's how one plays in "Puzzle Mode."

In "Cube Attack" mode, the game becomes more like a 3D Tetris. You begin with a small size cube containing several smaller cubes. One matches the smaller cubes as quickly as possible. However, as time goes by, the cubes multiply and the size of the overall cube begins to grow. If the overall cube reaches full size, the game is over.

In both game modes there is a timer to challenge the player to play faster than previous games. There is also a leader board to compare one's game stats with other players.

I love this game. The concept is very simple, making the game easy to begin playing. Watching the video posted on the game's description page makes learning the game easy. The 3D aspect of the game is cool and visually appealing. I highly recommend this game. It's fun and addicting!

The colors are just beautiful and finding the matches keep you
on your toes so to speak. Thanks again Amazon for a good game.

5.0 out of 5 stars Solid and simple - Mahjong with a twist February 15, 2013
By Me
Verified Purchase
If you like Mahjong, you will fill right at home here. However, the presentation of the game on a 3D cube gives it enough of a twist that it is something new. The basic rules are the same as Mahjong, but the twist is that instead of new tiles just showing up under the old ones, you can now rotate the playing field to get just the right angle into the 3D cube.

The game execution is very smooth and easy to use. Rotate the cube by dragging, make matches by clicking. There was not any lag or jumpiness on my Galaxy S3.

There are a couple of weaknesses outside of the core gameplay:
The options screen is not available until you start playing the game. I like to turn off the sound right away, and was afraid I wouldn't be able to at all at first (but you can in the game).
You can't quit the game and resume later -- if you have to stop for a while, you'll need to start over.
No difficulty/size configuration. If I've only got 5 minutes to play, and I can't resume, it'd be nice to do a really small puzzle.
Annoying promotional screen on exiting. Luckily they let you disable this in the options screen.

Conclusion: This game is a new twist on an old game, and the core execution of the game is great. It could use some improvements in menus and options provided.

Permissions: Network access, presumably for the leaderboard. Meh.

5.0 out of 5 stars utterly brilliant November 13, 2012
I cannot stop playing this game. It is easy to play...but very addictive. The game play is so intuitive and responsive. I have played hundreds of games and this is one of the best...worth ten times the price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cubistry December 9, 2012

I liked this game. It was fun to match all the shapes and the game provided a lot of different shapes to choose from. The abilty to change the cube around made it more exciting too as there weremore areas of play. I would recommend this game for anyone interested in finding matches. Interesting colour choices too! Would keep you amused for hours.

4.0 out of 5 stars I want my score January 20, 2013
Verified Purchase
Love playing this game, but as soon as I zap the last blocks, then Game Over and it tells me I have a new high score but doesn't show the score. I wonder if I'm the only one who wants to know the numbers? Only because of this issue I give it 4 stars.
Edited 5 hours later: The Cubisty guys emailed me (at my request) and let me know that if the Timer is turned off, then you don't a get a score.

4.0 out of 5 stars addicting December 26, 2012

this is a very fun & addicting game that is much like mahjong, but better. i only have two problems with it: 1) the music is very very repetetive. it's just the same 4 chords played over and over again on the piano. it would be nice to have an option to turn it off while leaving the sound effects on. 2) there is a "pause" button that's too close to the cube so it's incredibly easy to accidentally hit it while trying to rotate the cube. and next to the pause button is another button that looks like a camera but i can't figure out what, if anything, it does.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well designed game! February 15, 2013

I picked this game up while it was the free app of the day and wasn't expecting much....however, this game has impressed me with its graphics, resposiveness, and ease of use.

There are two primary modes you can play in. One where you start with a large cube comprised of multiple small cubes and try to match as many small cubes as you can...or you can play Attack of the Cubes mode where you start with a blank screen and cubes are added quickly. This is a good mode to play if you have a few minutes to focus and play a fast paced matching game.

As mentioned before, the responsiveness of the app is great. You will often have to rotate the mass of cubes around to find matches and it is impressive how smoothly this works

Cubistry not playable yet on Kindlefire HDX
Thanks for doing this. I just got my HDX, and couldn't find it, but thought I was just missing something. Now I know! Thanks again.

Some games insist on internet access about every 2 weeks, or else it sends up an error message like that. I don't know whether Cubistry falls into that category or not because I haven't had it on a Fire without access yet. If that doesn't help, you might try Fire customer service; my experience... Read more
