Zooistry is a fun 3D matching cube game...To select a cube you tap on it once and to rotate the cube you swipe the screen....Impossible to play on phones Samsung S4 and Samsung Note II it's too small...I was using a magnifying glass....I downloaded to Kindle HDX 7" it's just a tad bit larger and definitely needs a "ZOOM BUTTON"..

You have you 6 different choices of play: Puzzle, Zoo Attack, Stationary Camera, One Minute, Five Minute, and Ten Minutes....I personally like playing without the timer....In the lower right hand corner their are two animal faces.....The first button is an animal eye to Center the cube for you...The second is a animal paw that Pauses the game for you....The background music is a nice jungle theme and sound effects is all animal noises...

In settings you can turn down the music and sound effects separately..You may want to after awhile because it gets very loud..You can turn the timer on/off...
You can also turn Hohng Company messages on/off which was good because when I first turned the game on I accidently tapped the advertisement banner on the bottom of the page that bought me to the developers other game's site for IAP's.....

You also cannot exit cleanly from the game..You must use the Home key to exit and then force it close...The back key doesn't work...

No malware or intrusive permissions...It has a "Like" button that brings you to Facebook....After the game is done it has a Tweet button that takes you to Twitter...

30 April 2015: In the seven months since this was last reviewed, Hohng Company has done an update:

•-Fixed Setting screen sound knobs bug.

So at least their mega-franchise string of -Istry games aren't being completely neglected.

-- Original
Well, ZOOISTRY put me in a complete reversal when I quickly turned off the sound effects' sheer cacophony and leaving the music on (normally it's the other way around). As for gameplay, I suppose the comparison to a Mahjong tile matching game presented in a 3D Cube format is inevitable; fortunately, the touch movement is responsive once I figured out to only move the cube from the sides and not swiping across it as I would invariably end up with an unwanted picture selected.

Network Access: Uses Amazon's GameCircle Network as well as prompting you to post your high scores to Twitter. There is also a "Like!" button on the main page, which takes you to the developer's FB page, and a rather large self-advertising banner- yet as a rather nice touch, an option to actually turn that banner off is available under the [Settings] menu.

Installed itself onto my SD card with a total size of 45 megabytes. Does NOT have an in-game exit button, nor does the back-key work for exiting, so you must Home-screen out and let your Android Task Manager close it when resources are needed (or force close it).

As mentioned, I rather quickly turned off the animal noises, but the music itself is very pleasant. An option is available to turn the Timer off as well for a casual experience. Three game modes:

Puzzle: Rotate the cube and match all the animal pictures as quickly as possible.

The app shows you a cube with each side being composed of 36 colorful pictures of different animals. To remove a cube you have to match it with an exact picture of the same animal. You can rotate the cube and see it in three dimensions and the graphics are very well done. When you match the cubes your device will play a sound made by the animal you just removed but it quickly gets nerve racking. When you win the game it will play a sound track of animal noises which is too loud and it forced me to turn down the sound effects volume as I did not like that much noise. As you play the game the screen shows a timer that tracks how long it takes for you to solve the puzzle. It records the time to 1/100th of a second. I didn't realize it was a 100 meter dash!

You can play the game in many modes like puzzle, zoo attack, stationary camera, one minute, 5 minute and ten minutes sessions. As you touch the large cube to rotate it the cube will get out of square and after a few minutes you will find yourself twisting your tablet to more clearly see the animal's pictures. Just touch the animal eye in the lower RH corner to square up the cube again. Using your back button does not work and you have to touch the animal paw in the lower RH corner to go to the main screen. I could not find an exit button on the game so I had to use my Home button. I played the game on an 8 inch tablet and it was good. I think it would be very difficult to play on almost any phone. I tried it on a 5 inch screen phone and for me it was already getting more difficult to identify the different smaller cubes. There is no zoom button and that makes phone play more difficult.

Overall I like the game but I do not like the push to twitter your scores and the access to Facebook and like the app.

Better than Cubistry, but not without issues. This game is best played on tablets. Even on a >5" phone, the cubes are difficult to tap in many cases.

[EDIT/NOTE: The game WILL NOT exit. You must use 'force stop, or use a task-killer, or restart the device to get the game out of memory. A minor issue, but one that needs immediate addressing.]

There are four different play styles:
Puzzle: this is the traditional find-a-match game which is timed to completion.
Zoo Attack!: Start with a couple of matches, and the computer keeps adding matches on more quickly with each passing second. You need to keep up for as long as possible until the cube is completed and you 'die'.
Stationary Camera: This is my favorite! No timer or score. Just a relaxing yet challenging game where you need to make matches, often from the barest of information. In this game, the animal sounds are just as important as the images. Unfortunately, this is also where the controls are most frustrating. Even on a very large phone screen, activating cubes behind other cubes often boils down to a very small percentage chance each tap of activating the one you want.
Timed Countdown: One, Five, and Ten Minute rounds. Played like the puzzle, you make as many matches as you can until the timer reaches zero.

For me, the animal noises were annoying in the Time Countdown stages and the Puzzle. The Stationary Camera requires the animal noises and aren't terribly annoying.

However, the music is absolutely terrific, and perfect for the theme. I'd love to buy the album from which the music came.

The leaderboard shouldn't exist, in my opinion, since there is no ability to rank for device.
