5.0 out of 5 stars Creative Inspiration, Beautiful Photos, Great Ideas! April 13, 2010
Format:Hardcover
The Homemade Home features stylish and affordable projects that show you how to customize your space on a budget. All 300 photographs were taken by the talented Penny Wincer, a favorite photographer of mine from the UK, so I knew the moment I saw her name on this book that I'd love the visuals -- and I do!

This gorgeous book shares ideas and inspiration that are both accessible and provide readers with an opportunity to inject individuality into a home in order to avoid that familiar catalog-style that is boring and lacking in character. There isn't one photo I don't like in this book, and not one project I wouldn't try -- I really like how author/stylist Sania Pell encourages readers to use things that we already have - upcycling and recycling them into new, custom items.

I have hundreds of design, decorating and craft books and read dozens of magazines and hands down, this book is one of my favorites. It's imaginative without being over-the-top, handmade without being kitschy and tacky, and it's a book that will encourage crafty beginner's without causing frustration while equally challenging advanced creatives with new and rewarding projects that are fresh and fun.

5.0 out of 5 stars So creative! April 17, 2010
By Jes
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
I bought this book after reading Holly Becker's review of it on [...], and I wish I had heard of it sooner. Sania Pell has such creative ideas that are perfect for someone with a short attention span such as myself. There are some quick projects that I can do while the kids are napping and then there are some that will require more time. The tutorials are clear and consise and the photographs are absolutely stunning. I can't wait to get started on these crafts!

I wouldn't recommend you buy this. Except it did have one thing that I really wanted to learn how to make.

2.0 out of 5 stars I would not recommend this book.
Was not what I expected. It was not a really professional book. I was expecting more clever ideas than I saw in the book.
