Aleta Williams writes to entertain and inspire. She grew up in Watts, California, a small city located in South Central Los Angeles. She currently resides in Seal Beach, California with her husband and three children. Writing for her is a hobby, a stepping stone to get to where God is taking her. She believes, her calling is to become an inspirational/motivational speaker for teens and woman who struggled with an abnormal child hood just as her. At six years old Aleta witnessed her mothers' murder. With no one to help her get through the tragedy she used anger as a defense mechanism to help her deal with hurt, pain, and loneliness. Aleta later joined a gang, which lead her into becoming a teen mother. Aleta, does not believe being a teen parent is the norms and doesn't condone it, but she believes her first born was God way of saving her life. It wasn't until she gave birth to her daughter that the fear of leaving her alone in a world she thought was cruel that she began to change her life around. Aleta finished school. She became a banker for 11yrs, until she took her gift to write as an outlet to enjoy life. Aleta has eleven bestsellers and three collaborations.

This story line was good but a lot was missing.I liked how the message that all gangbangers do not come up in single parent homes...some choose to live their gangbanging lives secretly. The story has great potential if more of the blanks were filled in...No chronological order and the editing that was absent made it confusing to me...sometimes I didn't know if it was a scene from Debo or Lana.

3* rating.

This book was so much more than what I expected...The read was
awesome. A tale from the hood with some suspense and mystery, a life
lesson, a love lesson and even a bible lesson...I promise you I could
not put it down til I was done. I'm definitely wanting more...Can't wait for ZipCodez II :)

Well...Well..Well, I have been telling this author for over a year I wanted her book so bad went and purchased a kindle and Zip Codez was the first book I bought. I Love the story, relate 100% and very happy she is writting what she knows, not what she thinks she knows.I want more books from this Author, and ready to purchase as soon as she is puts them out. As well she has good meaning, "lesson" from her book that many people can learn from, I wish you the best, and know you will make it. By the way I would pay much more money for your books, dont cut yourself short, you have what it takes....I hope others will find this book, its a diamond in the rough !!!!!

This book was an amazing read to say the least! As I was reading, it was constantly hard for me to understand that this is a first time author. Her witty style of writing is refreshing. This book grabs the attention of the reader from the very beginning and still to the end. Author Aleta Williams captures street life, love and heartache with perfection. As all stories must come to an end...I really didn't want this one to. For me, Lana and Debo's story is a VERY familiar one. I support this amazing author and CAN'T wait to see what she comes up with next!

As I started readin ZipCodez, I had to sit down and take a reality check and because I was reading a life I once knew. This book is as real as it gets and needs to be the #1 book given to the youth to see what can happen; jail or hell. i love it and I read it from beginning to end. The Author wanted you to feel how they feel and coming from true experience I will say that you made a visual of my life that I learn to leave and change for the sake of my child and my brothers. Excellent page turner!!!!

Zipcodez by Author Aleta Williams kept me intrested in every chapter. Debo and Lana was all too familar to me. They kept me going from city to city bringing back memories of growning up in those very same neighborhoods. Loved the positive outcome showing that we don't all stay ignorant to the streets. Author Aleta did her thing with this book, can't wait to see what she got coming soon. You gotta get it and check it out for yourself!

I finished this book in about 3 hours. I was so into the story and being from Compton I was familiar I could see the locations and felt so familiar with the characters. I also liked the fact that there was a strong message behind the story. It is more than a hood tale, it touches on faith, self-esteem, self love, and more. I will allow my daughters to read this story. I can't wait until the next part comes out.

Let me first start by saying "Aleta you did that and you should be one proud lady with your accomplishments in this book." I can't express enough about how Lana reminded me of myself along with alot of other different ladies that I grew up with. I for one grew up in Watts, and you could not have told me that I was not a gang member in my teenage years. I could literally visualize Lana speaking, hand movements and the emptiness inside that comes along with growing up in poverty and having loss a loved one. I'm so happy that she turned her life around and to be honest I can't say that I would like to see her and Debo back together. I commend Debo for what he did out of love and respect for Lana but I can't say that I believe he's changed (by the ending of the book) and in my eyes he will drag Lana down in the hell hole that he's destined for (sorry but I'm being honest). Aleta I love the way you substituted the c's for k's and the wording like cool for "bool".. It's how it's done in the hood and anybody criticizing you for it (especially when there's an explanation in the book for the reason.. Lol) just doesn't get it and more than likely did not grow up in the streets that we grew up in. I hope, pray, and wish you the best of luck in your endeavors.. You're already a S.T.A.R my question is when can I expect the next book??

Sincerely your facebook fan,
Bridget Davis
