The third in the Sissy Sawyer series is what you'd expect if you read the first two, although that is not necessary. The series about the clairvoyant/old hippie with her special cards is good fun. There's some spooky stuff that may remind Masterton readers of HOUSE OF BONES, WALKERS, and THE HOUSE THAT JACK BUILT. An old New Orleans hotel has been renovated and unexplained phenomena are occurring. Pools of blood, people disappearing. Sissy comes down from Connecticut at the request of the hotel owner's sister, who is having disturbing dreams. There is, of course, gore (is there a Masterton novel in which intestines are not mentioned?). It's not Masterton at his best, but still a good read.

To date this is a brilliant Sissy Sawyer book, and has her developed in a superb way. Sissy meets T Yon through
Billy, part of her family whom she obviously cares for, and T Yon wants to meet Sissy because of dreams she is
having. The relationship between Billy, T Yon and the initially distant Ev, is developed very tightly by Masterton's skilled exposition. T Yon is connected to Baton Rouge and the spirits who haunt her are drawing her
there, and yet when Sissy tried to help, we see the reach of the spirits from quite a distance.
The much detailed De Vane cards are key to the power of the Spirit in the centre of the Maelstrom that is at
the centre of T Yon's troubles. Sissy has to investigate the spiritual events of Billy's and T Yon's Life. Sissy
steps into a realm that takes the reader on a brilliant ride that only Masterton can create. This is a great Sissy
Sawyer book, and one that again mixes mythologies in a superb way. We learn much and explore the depth of the
spiritual difficulties in the most amazing and fun way. And "A" grade Masterton piece with class work on multiple
levels. We learn more about Sissy, and Sissy learns more about herself as well.
Fun ,intriguing, amazing, scarey, and a perfect ride.

I don't think there is a single book that I didn't like from this author, and I've read more than 30 of his books.
So bad that it's hard to find his paper books in US, but perfect I have his book on my kindle
