Book Description

Volume 4 in The House of Grey Series

Fantasy, friendship, and fate await you in Collin Earl’s The House of Grey, based on the popular audio fiction by the same name.

14-year-old Monson Grey faces the same challenges that any freshman high school kid would: difficult classes, weird teachers, food fights…girls. Except, Monson Grey is not Monson Grey. At least, when he looks at himself in the mirror, the scarred face staring back is not someone he recognizes.

Now he finds himself attending an extraordinary school, the recipient of an incredible scholarship, among ridiculously rich classmates, all with no memory of how he got there or what to expect.

All he has from his former life are the flashes of haunting images that plague his dreams and the echoing voices that he hears, but cannot see.

Luckily, Monson finds fast friendship in two of his classmates, Casey and Artorius. Little does Monson know, they too carry their own skeletons. Yet, as bizarre events start to unfold around them, Monson wonders what secrets lay buried in his mind or if he will ever be able to share his true fears with his newfound friends.

Join our three heroes as they roam the halls of the most prestigious high school in the country, finding love, mystery, and answers to their algebra homework- all while peeling away the layers of Monson’s shadowy past.

Author’s Note: The House of Grey was originally a serialized audio fiction. The Volume system begins the written adaptation of that story. Individual volumes do not contain the complete story. The Volumes contain 50,000 to 70,000 word chucks and are divided into ARCS. (ARC ONE, the Coren University Arc, consists of Volumes 1 through 6 and corresponds to the original podcast fiction) Each ARC will be available for a reduced price in an omnibus format. Original material for the continuation of the story starts in Volume 7

2.0 out of 5 stars Shady Tactics, Unfulfilling Book January 23, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I am writing this same review for all the the "House of Grey" volumes because, in reality, it's just a single book.

First off, I am disappointed by the way this was split up into volumes -- talk about nickle and diming your audience. At 3-4 dollars per "book" you end up spending about $19 total. No other kindle edition of a book out there costs anywhere as close to this much for the same amount of story.

Secondarily, the story moved way, way too slow and then EXPLODED neat the end with scene after scene of super saiyan power ups. The progress of Monson's power could have been much better spread out through the book, far less cryptic, and thus more fulfilling.

Finally, the end of the 6th volume was such a let down. So, so very much was unanswered from any of the previous volumes and tons of new questions were tossed out there willy-nilly.

If all six of these volumes got put back together as the first of a series and the price hit < $6, I'd recommend it. But based on what I've seen here, I've gotta be harsh in my rating for the amount of upset and disappointment I feel.

5.0 out of 5 stars House of Grey 4 August 28, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Volume 4 of this series is the perfect continuation to volume 3 of The House of Grey series. Volume 4 continues teenager and Horum Vir, Monson Greys journey to "magical" enlightenment. It contains many twists and turns and maybe even a few surprises....It is a definite must read for anyone who still believes in the power of magic... Do you still believe?

5.0 out of 5 stars Magic, other world people, kids in private school... March 31, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I got hooked on this series of books from book 1. It had pulled me into the book when I read about scripting and out of this world people. There are some spelling and grammatical errors but I overlooked them just reading the the story lines. It doesn't follow the same lines as Harry Potter, but is just as good in my own opinion.

4.0 out of 5 stars Still reading! October 16, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This volume made me pause and think, "Oh, good grief!" The magic business is kind of off-putting and hard to swallow but I'll keep on reading and find out who or what Monson is and what is his destiny. Top this with Monson's being clueless when it comes to the opposite sex and you have a kid who, if he were at sea, would be floundering in confusion and sinking fast. Wake up, Monson! It's not a dream. (And this kid is only fifteen?)

4.0 out of 5 stars Good September 30, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
It was a very good bookk-but just not long enough. Each book in the series is too short, so you have to buy the others to continue what should have been 3 books at the most.

This is a great novel that build the tension slowly. Agonizely so. However, it introduced multiple concept I'll alternative sources of energy, magic, science, and the human condition.
