Book Description

Fantasy, friendship, and fate await you in Collin Earl’s The House of Grey, based on the popular audio fiction by the same name.

14-year-old Monson Grey faces the same challenges that any freshman high school kid would: difficult classes, weird teachers, food fights…girls. Except, Monson Grey is not Monson Grey. At least, when he looks at himself in the mirror, the scarred face staring back is not someone he recognizes.

Now he finds himself attending an extraordinary school, the recipient of an incredible scholarship, among ridiculously rich classmates, all with no memory of how he got there or what to expect.

All he has from his former life are the flashes of haunting images that plague his dreams and the echoing voices that he hears, but cannot see.

Luckily, Monson finds fast friendship in two of his classmates, Casey and Artorius. Little does Monson know, they too carry their own skeletons. Yet, as bizarre events start to unfold around them, Monson wonders what secrets lay buried in his mind or if he will ever be able to share his true fears with his newfound friends.

Join our three heroes as they roam the halls of the most prestigious high school in the country, finding love, mystery, and answers to their algebra homework- all while peeling away the layers of Monson’s shadowy past.

Author’s Note: The House of Grey was originally a serialized audio fiction. The Volume system begins the written adaptation of that story. Individual volumes do not contain the complete story. The Volumes contain 50,000 to 70,000 word chucks and are divided into ARCS. (ARC ONE, the Coren University Arc, consists of Volumes 1 through 6 and corresponds to the original podcast fiction) Each ARC will be available for a reduced price in an omnibus format. Original material for the continuation of the story starts in Volume 7

I love this series but I hope to god that truly was not the last of it. I will be pissed because that was not an ending. I still have questions that need answered. It's still so open:... Ugh!!!

2.0 out of 5 stars Shady Tactics, Unfulfilling Book January 23, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I am writing this same review for all the the "House of Grey" volumes because, in reality, it's just a single book.

First off, I am disappointed by the way this was split up into volumes -- talk about nickle and diming your audience. At 3-4 dollars per "book" you end up spending about $19 total. No other kindle edition of a book out there costs anywhere as close to this much for the same amount of story.

Secondarily, the story moved way, way too slow and then EXPLODED neat the end with scene after scene of super saiyan power ups. The progress of Monson's power could have been much better spread out through the book, far less cryptic, and thus more fulfilling.

Finally, the end of the 6th volume was such a let down. So, so very much was unanswered from any of the previous volumes and tons of new questions were tossed out there willy-nilly.

If all six of these volumes got put back together as the first of a series and the price hit < $6, I'd recommend it. But based on what I've seen here, I've gotta be harsh in my rating for the amount of upset and disappointment I feel.

3.0 out of 5 stars Missing s little clarification. February 28, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I began this series very much enjoying the author's writing and the apparent plot, the first three books were exciting and seemed to have a definite direction. By book four I wanted a narrative thread to start tying all of the mysteries together and some explanations of who and what these other worlds, races, wars, and prophesies were. But nothing substantial, just more teen angst and questions. I thought book five would provide more and it almost did. I was sure book six had to be the answer but now I'm really disappointed.

Book six should have stated the prophesies, identified and explained the principal players and fixed their places in the prophesies. By now all should be united and ready to close the story. At this point I am frustrated and will likely give up on the series. Robert Jordan densely plotted enough to do this and carry it off, but this is a trilogy at most. I kept buying them, sure that the next book would reveal more than WeSaySo and You'llUnderstandWhenYouGrowUp. Sorry, but even well beyond my teen years I'm tired of hearing that.

4.0 out of 5 stars I will give this book one thumb. December 9, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
So I enjoy this series, but I believe it to be a wast of money to buy each new part like this. Each section is not a new book it is a continuation of chapters. The author should bundle them together.

They keep feeding us new information that never seems to get addressed before moving on to something new, and at this point I think I have more questions then answers, so I hope that the story continues because I have a good amount of money and time invested for it to end like this.

3.0 out of 5 stars A good series but in desperate need of editing September 27, 2014
By Ruth
Format:Kindle Edition
I enjoyed this series but found it disjointed and hard to follow in some places. The plot seemed scattered with information added that wasn't explained or relevant to the story and the story line didn't flow smoothly. I found myself needing to review previous volumes to figure out what the author was thinking or where he was trying to go with the story. I thought that things would be explained in the final volume but instead there really wasn't any conclusion and left the reader wondering what the check the author was trying to say.
