Editorial Reviews

Produced by the legendary Bob Ezrin and Jimmie Lee Sloas, the album 'The House Rules' explodes with energy, but Kane's Oklahoma drawl and phrasing tell you this is country music first and foremost. Not just a singer, but also an EMI songwriter with a cut on the latest Trace Adkins CD, Kane writes much of his own material or collaborates with his friends Blair Daly, Casey Beathard, Jerrod Niemann and others on the album.

Before Christian Kane I had never listened to country music, save a stray song here and there from various artists like Garth Brooks back in the day or Darius Rucker over the last year or two. Then I found the show Leverage, and Kane, found out he was a singer and listened to his music, instantly becoming a fan.

This album, which I pre-ordered through another site for a deluxe edition, is the very first Country music purchase that I've ever made, and shockingly I'm about to say that I am extremely satisfied with my purchase.

When I first started listening to this, I had only heard five of the songs, all five having been released over the summer as an EP by Kane. Those songs (House Rules, Whiskey in Mind, Let Me Go, Making Circles and American Made) were all outstanding, and Making Circles, a beautiful song detailing a failing relationship in which both parties are self destructing remains my favorite of his.

Here you get 11 tracks which include those previously mentioned five, along with 6 new songs (including "Thinking of You" which was featured on an episode of Leverage and was sung by Kane and actor/musician John Schneider (Dukes of Hazard's Bo Duke).

I don't really see any weak spots here at all. As a non-Country fan, they're not all my cup of tea, but none make me regret my purchase. As with virtually any album you buy some songs are stronger than others. Some will resonate more powerfully with you than others.

STANDOUT TRACKS: Thinking of You, Making Circles, House Rules, Let Me Go, Seven Days, Fast Car

I highly recommend you get this album, and if you're not sure about jumping into a country album, but are a fan of Kane, I would suggest you get his EP which he released last summer.

Christian Kane may not be widely known for his musical talent, but just wait until the word spreads around! This CD contains some songs that Christian has already previously released, but the product is a well-put together effort that showcases Kane's amazing vocals. He has a natural sultry, husky and sexy
voice that delivers in conveying raw emotion. When Christian sings a song, his heart and soul is in it. I'm an eclectic music listener who enjoys a wide range of music genres and also an African-American woman well over 40- not your typical country music listener. However, Kane came across my musical radar screen not too long ago, and his vocal style, writing, and lyric delivery instantly captured my attention. Good music comes in all genres. This a great CD even if you don't typically listen to country music. Great road music too!

I'm not a huge country music fan. I listen to a little here and there. Of course that was until Kane came into my life. I absolutely love Christian's voice. His music as well as his acting is amazing. There isn't a song on this CD that I don't like. I had the priveledge of meeting Christian about 2 months ago. I can tell you he is one of the nicest people I've ever met. Very down to earth and easy to talk to. He adores his fans as much as they adore him. He has worked hard for his success and deserves everthing he has and is about to have. I am proud to call myself a Kaniac. If you don't know who he is and haven't heard his music I highly recommend you add this CD to your collection. You won't be disappointed!

I must admit to being taken by surprise when the video for The House Rules showed up in the countdowns on the Country music cable channels. I had no idea that Mr. Kane is also a musician and a fine vocalist. Yes, I knew he makes a pretty good tough guy on one of my favorite cable TV programs, but a musician? Honestly, I thought that the music video was actually a commercial promoting the newest season of Leverage: The First Season, but as it continued on I found myself really enjoying the tune as well as enjoying the eye candy and rockin' good time that shines through in the music video for the title track.
I hadn't jumped into the EP, so for me the album release is my first experience with the rest of the songs here. As usual, I hit the sample button to listen to the other tracks that make up the album as a last second check on whether I should or shouldn't spend some of my music entertainment budget here. Yeah, I'd already purchased the music video via the Tunes store that a certain fruity company runs, but I long ago learned, as most everyone likely has, that just because you like one tune on an album doesn't mean you'll really enjoy the rest. With this particular album, that is not a problem at all. Everything that is here is good quality, entertaining music.
The House Rules starts the collection off right with a rockin' tune that just reminds the listener of a good time. I might compare it to Jason Aldean (

Amen! I'm so glad that Christian is *finally* getting to release his music. I plan to buy the cd, but I'm also going to get the deluxe download from iTunes too, since it has a bonus song and the House Rules video on it.

This sounds like crap
I have the EP and another CD(live) of CKs they are both great. If you don't like it, go to a page with an artist you do like and post positively there. Why bother being negative, it is such a downer when you could be being kind elsewhere!!!
