Format: DVD
An unusual one is this offering from France. Right from the start we get the nasty nature of what this is about and that is the `hunt' referenced in the title. What this very unsporting adventure actually is makes for some challenging viewing. The hunters are all bemasked and tooled up with anything they fancy, knives, guns, bows and arrows etc. The poor things being hunted are men that have been kidnapped, tortured dressed in business attire and then have a strong box attached to their wrist by handcuff. They are simply told to run - and the rest more or less tells itself.

The shenanigans are spiced up when a sleaze pedlar of the gutter press-Alex-decides to spy on a ne'er do well in order to get an exposé type story for his lower end tabloid. He then finds himself going for a ride in the country and as sure as night follows day so will investigative journalism based in a horror film end in a bad place.

So is it any good? Well I thought this really held its own (no pun intended), despite financial limitations we have some very good performances from a less well known cast. There is a good atmosphere of foreboding which is helped by the musical score and it is all well filmed. It does seem to have an abrupt ending but that was probably done on purpose. There is a fair amount of gore but not a splat fest and some scenes of torture but not too gratuitous. It is in French with good to ok sub titles and a run time of around 85 minutes; this is not your average horror and with a thriller element thrown in this is actually quite a good indie film indeed.
