5 Ravens
"The Hunter is a very touching, sensual read. I've never read a paranormal quite like it and I'm thoroughly impressed with Eve Langlais' writing style...  I loved it! "
says Ashley --Black Raven Reviews

4.5 Stars
"The magic had my curiosity peaked and the author did a wonderful job letting the information unfold naturally. Suzie is a very normal character... that makes her very relatable..."

More About the Author

~ New York Times and USA Today Bestseller

Hello, my name is Eve and I am a Canadian author who loves to write hot romance, usually with hot shifters, cyborgs or aliens. I should warn you that I possess a twisted imagination and a sarcastic sense of humor something I like to let loose in my writing.

I love to write, and while I don't always know what my mind is going to come up with next, I can promise it will be fun, probably humorous and most of all romantic, because I love a happily ever after.

Thanks so much for coming by and checking me out. If you'd like to know more, read some excerpts or find out what's coming next, then please visit me at http://www.EveLanglais.com

Book 2 "The Realm" series. Preceded by Take A Chance. Followed by Chance's Game.

Plot:
When Suzie and her twins moved in next door, Hunter's life was thrown for a loop. One day he's sending pixies and large white rabbits back to The Realm, the next he's trying to safeguard his neighbours from her Nasty Ex while hunting evil ex-con, The Dragon. When the two worlds cross paths, can Suzie and her children find a way to survive in this new reality, or will Hunter be forced to give up his hopes for a HEA with them?

Comments:
- Contemporary paranormal (magic, alternate reality, shape-shifting) romance with explicit bedroom scenes.
- 5010 kindle locations, 70,900 words, 196 pages.
- m/f - explicit, happy and caring but first encounter two thirds of the way through.
- Despite being the second book in "The Realm" series, "The Hunter" would happily stand alone. There are no critical cross-over characters or story arcs. We are simply in the same World. However, there is an open teaser epilogue which happily leads into the next book.
- Suzie is a survivor of abuse and has been hiding from the abuser for years. This, and being a single mum of twins, has affected how she interacts with the world and how she views herself. It takes her a while to accept Hunter into her bed, and her future.

Opinion:
Opens on a fairly traditional contemporary romance - Single Mum and Survivor of domestic abuse begins her life in the 'burbs. Gorgeous (and helpful) neighbour also happens to be a conveniently armed PI.

I actually bypassed this books several times and, in fact, I elected to read the 3rd book in this Series second rather than this one which is actually the 2nd book in this Series. I can't explain it but for some reason I found the cover to be off-putting and made me fell that I wouldn't like this book. Silly, I know, but for some reason that's what I felt. Anyway, after having read all the available books in this "The Realm" Series, all the books in Eve's "Welcome to Hell" Series, as well as, her "Princess of Hell" Series, I still wasn't ready to leave Eve's captivating world. I even read a book that cost 3 times what any of the aforementioned books cost each hoping that it would be similar to Eve's creation [it was "How to Lose a Demon in 10 Day"). Let's just say that it was a big, big disappointment and the kicker was that someone had the nerve to charge almost $10 for it. Thank goodness for amazon's liberal refund policy. By now desperate, I finally decided to overcome my weird aversion to the book's cover and read this book anyway. Boy, I'm definitely glad that I did.

From a depth perspective I would have to say that this book was slightly more complex/multi-layered than the other two books in this Series. It's still very much a light and a bit of a fluffy read but the main characters were given more time to develop a more meaningful bond before jumping into bed together. There was still the immediate attraction thing but that's was okay b/c after all this is fantasy paranormal romance so this is acceptable. There was less humor in this story but rightly so given that some of the subject matter had a darker tone.

Like any young woman who believed in fairy tales, Suzie thought she had fallen in love with a man older than her. Instead he turned out to be a monster and only had one thing in mind, taking her son. Running away Suzie has made sure there is no trail to find her and her twins, a boy and girl. Suzie is finally beginning to feel comfortable three years later and is more than thrilled to find that her new next door neighbor is eye candy galore.

Hunter has been sent through the realm to where magic doesn't exists. His task is to send back the magical beings that keep crossing over. Hunter is not ready for a relationship, nor is he looking for an instant family but something about Suzie and her children have him questioning if maybe he is ready. When Suzie's ex finds her, Hunter is stunned to find that it is the man he has been looking for and Suzie quickly learns that fairy tales do have an ounce of truth to them.

I liked this one, very fun. The story was not just about Suzie, Hunter had his own story with his father that was interesting. I loved the kids and they talked like their age, which was a relief. Would pick up more in this series, Eve Langlais always writes an unexpected twist to her stories and the heroes are right up there in the favorites column.

"The Hunter" grabbed me from the first page and took me on a wonderful ride. I loved the characters in this book and there was so much fun humor. I don't think that there was much to not like about this book. It is a mix of the modern world mixed in with "The Realm". I didn't find this book to be highly erotic, but I honestly didn't miss that because I enjoyed the build up to the main characters romance. I recently just discovered "Eve Langlais" with "Alien Mate and Alien Mate 2" and I found this book after enjoying those first. I look forward to reading more of her work.
