I'm not even gonna hide the truth; I downloaded a torrent of this album when I heard it leaked a few weeks ago and listened to it like crazy until just now when I purchased the deluxe edition. (Sorry Dallas, you're music is so good I just couldn't wait) The bonus songs (2 acoustic alternates and 1 utterly fantastic composition) are worth it on their own yet Dallas graces us with 12 other beautiful songs before the extras. I find so many parallels in his music and the way my life has played out that it's kind of creepy. Might be why I enjoy his music so much. That and the man sounds like an angel.

If you like City & Color then I can't see how you won't enjoy this album. It's certainly become one my all time favorites very quickly. Some Alexisonfire fans may even recognize a few lyrics used in a new way on a few tracks.

In my opinion buy this album. Like now. Right now. Button is on the right side. Over there >. Seriously. Stop reading this. Just buy it. You'll thank yourself. Your heart certainly will.

I am from the older generation (66) and bought this CD as a bit of a gamble as I had never come across Dallas Green before. After having a brief listen on Amazon and reading some reviews I decided to take the plunge. With the first playing I was pleasantly surprised and the more I played this CD the more it appealed to me. Unusal but great voice, good lyrics that you can hear and understand, and tunes that stay in your head. In my view definitely City and Colour's best CD (subsequently listened to earlier CDs) with a good mix of acoustic and electric. Hopefully this review will not turn off the younger generation!! Highly recommend this CD and looking forward to the forthcoming City and Colour's concert in Canberra, Australia even if I might be the oldest person in the audience. Neil R

Let me just go on record by saying I loved all of his previous work, "Sometimes" was amazing, "Bring Me Your Love" was even better, and "Little Hell" was pretty good (I feel like Dallas hadn't found his sound yet, with a set-band). But this album is just nothing short of perfection, the instrumentals are amazing, the vocals are obviously incredible (because come on... it's Dallas Green). This has definitely proven to be one of my all-time favorite albums, what more can I say? BUY IT!

Let me say this upfront: I have never written a review of an album on the first listen, never mind only 3/4 of the way through ... but I had to make an exception for this phenomenal piece of music from City and Colour. I am completely blown away by the haunting vocals, lyrics, and musical tightness of the songs on this album. This is coming from a normally tough critic who generally requires a minimum of three spins to make any judgement on a recording.

I am brand new to Dallas Green and his music, having heard the single "Thirst" on an alternative music channel just the other day and loved the sound of it. I will also say that if this album does not make Dallas Green a superstar there is something badly wrong with the world of music. This music is too beautiful and deserves to be heard by everyone!

Brilliant album. Some tracks border on melancholy. Green's voice is unique and exceptional.
Use of diverse instruments (organ, pedal steel, viola) is right on. "Golden State" is
genius.

My wife and I have loved everything City and Colour has ever released, but this album leaves a lot to be desired.
This album just hasn't grabbed us like the others have. We are still City and Colour fans for life though.

To keep it short and sweet, this is C&C's best record to date. It's raw but polished, blending notes and sounds from previous records in fresh light to culminate in what I feel City and Colour fully represents. Magical album. Definitely my top of the first half of the year and probably will be my top of the year. Buy it, you will not regret it.

This is one of my favorite albums. Dallas has a great voice and his lyrics are so poetic. His music can always lift me up with I am in a bad mood. The Hurry and The Harm and Two Coins two of best on this album.
