About the Author

Dr. Kevin Dobrzynski is a Doctor of Naprapathy, nutritionist, and personal trainer who has spent his career successfully helping others lose weight. This is a fantastic book. I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism 5 years ago. I had to switch to an Endocrinologist for treatment because my internist said my levels were normal. Once the Endocrinologist tested me he raised my mcg by 75! I felt instantly better. My advice is to get a new doctor when you don't feel yours is listening to you.
Before I read this book I read "The Belly Fat Cure". At that time I realized I was insulin resistant. (Diabetes runs in my family and I had gestational diabetes with my last two births) After reading BFC I gave up diet soda, and eliminated most sugar from my diet. I managed to lose 9lbs in 6 weeks and take 2+ inches off my waist. I plateaued after that and pretty much kept off the sugar and diet sodas.
I started up again on a serious power walking program (4x a week 45 min and 1x for 1.5 hours) and counted calories. I calculated my BMR (1860 cal to maintain weight with NO activity) and stayed in a calorie zone of 1300-1700. After 7 weeks of being a good I lost 3lbs. Something was very wrong. At this point I looked for books regarding diet and thyroid. This book was a godsend! I have added supplements to my diet, taken out the peanuts (thought they were good for me) whole wheat bread (who knew?) and cut out some (not all) gluten. I feel great. For the first time in weeks I have not gone to bed at 9 pm. I do plan on doing the detox, but I need to ease into it. It's one thing to give up diet soda, another to give up major food groups at one time. (Atkins made me a mean and nasty person years ago). I'm shocked that my doctor hasn't talked to me about dietary changes to help with my thyroid. It seems that the pill I am prescribed is suppose to cure everything.

Dr. Kevin's program has completely turned my life around.
By following his simple plan, in just two 1/2 months I was able to lose 30 lbs and feel absolutely incredible. Before I had no energy, no self-confidence and now I can walk and hike for miles. I'm bicycling, and taking exercise classes - that's how great I feel and how much confidence I now have. Dr. Kevin, I'm forever grateful to you and I hope to encourage others like me, to try your program.

I bought this book because of the positive reviews and I need help losing weight after 10 years of hypothyroidism. I don't think anyone edited this book because he contradicts himself in several places:

He says do not eat fruit or fruit juice or sugar of any kind and yet on week 2 he says to have fruit smoothies! Plus, he says to use whey protein powder. It is almost impossible to find a whey protein powder that doesn't have SOY in it and soy is definitely forbidden. If you read the label as he continually tells us to do, you will see that the powder contains soy!

No PUFAs. Yet he says to eat salmon and tuna and nuts which are all sources of PUFAs. PLUS, he says don't eat tuna because of the mercury and yet, tuna is on the Detox diet!

No legumes. Yet he has black beens on the detox diet. Plus he says eat hummus it comes in many different flavors. HELLO hummus is made from chickpeas (legumes) plus if you read the label, it has soybean oil in it!

And what's with white rice? EVERYBODY knows you don't eat white rice!

Beef jerkey - can't find one that doesn't have soy in it. Read the label.

Almonds, pecans and walnuts - all listed as snacks. They contain PUFAs and are definitely NOT recommend for hypothyroid patients to eat by many sources.

Spincah is a goitregin and yet the detox diet has a RAW SPINACH salad!

I actually paid extra to have this delivered to me quickly. What a waste of money!

I could count calories and exercise all day long and the scale won't budge! This book helped me understand that I have to eat smarter if I want to lose weight. I tried the two week elimination diet and never felt so healthy and energetic in my life. I'm up at 4:30 every day to exercise and have energy in spades until bedtime! I have no interest in putting poisonous junky food into my body ever again.

Coconut oil is the best! It makes the house smell good when I cook, makes my skin and hair baby soft, and tastes wonderful!

Highly recommend this book to anyone who has hypothyroid and wants their energy back.

Following Dr. Kevin's plan has given my Momma - who is diagnosed with hypothyroid along with her mother - and I more energy, the easiest weight-loss we've ever witnessed, fewer issue with being cold all the time, not needing a daily nap or falling asleep at 7pm, fewer mood swings and NO mind-fog. As soon as I cheat on the program, I feel it, all my symptoms come flooding back. This book is the answer we've been searching for - and the best gift of all is seeing the difference it's making in my 69 year old mother. She has more energy and she's dropping weight quickly and she's always struggled with weight-loss and had given up because the only way, in her lifetime, to lose weight meant eating under 1,000 calories and working out like crazy...your body can't do that with age. And with this plan, she doesn't have to!!! You want an answer to your symptoms? This is it!
