Book Description

November 22, 2010
This book lambasts both the left wing and the right wing conservative movements in the United States. The conservative movement is pictured as being behind the times and politically irrelevant, as well as arrogant and smug. The last chapter is devoted to the final days of William F. Buckley, Jr. and his disillusionment with the conservative movement he started.

4.0 out of 5 stars Hits the mark. January 21, 2011
Mr. Buckley perceives the dangers of secular liberalism and where it's taking America. His is a grief-laden heart because of the rising rebellion against traditional institutions and the fact that we-the-public are allowing (for any number of reasons) the collapse of our American civilization. He is a Christian and a patriot. His mounting despair at our situation is evident. He names names and cites evidence. He finds materialism and greed and not compassion for the masses at the heart of what's happening. He believes that future generations will look back at ours with loathing because of what we allowed to happen. Because he doesn't hide behind euphemisms or soft-peddle his words, his book might be sub-titled, "Let the loathing begin."

Classic Reid Buckley. The legendary Buckley wit and incisive thinking is brought to a new level in this work. Whether you think liberal or conservative, here is a great collection of deep thoughts on the condition of America today. You will enjoy the book immensely. With all that is going on today it should be required reading for anyone yearning for a better future for our country.
