Book Description

Young Adult Paranormal Romance / Fantasy

Alastrina Byrne was murdered when she was seventeen years old, hunted down by a secret brotherhood determined to kill her kind -- that was 300 years ago.

As part of an ancient race called the Imati, Alastrina is an immortal. She has felt the pangs of starvation, the wounds of being stoned and the burn of fire behind cries of "witch." Yet, she cannot reach her true death. She is three centuries old, with the face of a seventeen-year-old girl.

Forced to flee and pack up her life for the umpteenth time, she moves cross-country to hide out in a small, but quirky town: Belfast, Maine.

Ally just wants to be "normal" -- but she is haunted by the mistakes of her past and the people who want her dead. However Belfast and its residents are different and for the first time in a century, she meets a boy -- Connor Winfield.

But Connor has secrets of his own; secrets that could get Ally killed for good this time and the two of them together will change everything.

Set in a world of immortals, Souljumpers, Seekers and ancient prophecies -- with flashbacks to Ally's life in 18th century Ireland, the French Revolution, 19th century South America, a slave ship bound for the New World, and beyond -- this is a journey about choices and how the decisions we make in the past, have consequences in our future.

Review

"The Imati awakens the imagination" -- The Examiner

From The Examiner

"This is a world in which humans are not alone. Besides the Imati, there are the powerful Seekers who hate them. There are also the SoulJumpers, who steal human bodies to host their immortal souls. And there are Eternal Councils, blue magic, and ancient prophecies.
The question here is - when faced with a real chance of a romantic love; will Alastrina give up her immortality?

To find out you must read The Imati, the new novel by C.T. Hillin. The Imati awakens the imagination. Makes one wonder "what if!" there were higher powerful creatures surrounding us simple mortals. It is nicely written, an easy read of short chapters that takes you on a tour throughout time and distance. It is catalogued as a Young Adult (YA) Supernatural / Paranormal romance novel, but really it can be enjoyed by any fan of Romance and Fantasy books.

The Imati is Hillin's first novel, and so published author can now be added to a resume that already includes writing screenplays for produced Hollywood films and articles for the Huffington Post."

5.0 out of 5 stars A great new book. July 14, 2014
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Just finished reading this newly released title. Loved it. In fact, I loved every minute reading each page. It was well written, engaging, imaginative, and immensely fun to read. No dull, over-explained characters or circumstances, yet a well developed story that just kept sucking me in deeper and deeper. Follows the basic 'immortal' notions from one of my favorite old TV series called, 'Highlander'. That was a plus for me, as was the purchase price. Though written for a younger audience, I - at age 60 - rearranged my day so that I could keep reading without interruptions till I finished. Then I passed it on to my teenage son. I was, though, left with one big question. When will Book 2 be published? Looking forward to what happens next. C.T Hillin is an author that everyone should take note of. So, Ms. Hillin, keep on writing!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great read! August 4, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is a well written and involving story that was very hard to put down. The characters are well developed and just keep becoming more and more real as the book progresses. It was billed as a book for young adults but even as a 50-something I was riveted. I've recommended the book to many of my friends and family and am anxious for the next installment! If you want a book that immediately captures your attention and keeps it down to the very last page, this is the book for you!

I was at work one day, and spent the better part of my shift hiding from bosses and coworkers so I could devour this book. True story. A must read for children, young adults, older adults, and anyone who wants to read a book they can't put down.

it's a very smart book! by which i mean, it doesn't read as an amateur attempt at writing a sophisticated plot. i went to read the about the author and i saw why. i enjoyed it thoroughly. as i said its a sophisticated and thus complicated world. the author does a perfect job of putting enough details to make you feel your actually living in their world. most definitely recommend this book!

The first page captures you and then you are taken away......and that is why I loved this! Thoroughly entertaining. The repartee is great,
the storyline clever and I enjoyed 'visiting' the many different locations and times. From its enchanting cover to the last page (which opens the door for more ) I highly recommend this read.
