Within 2 minutes of finishing the first book I had this one downloaded ready to read. The concept is fresh and the pace keeps moving - not a book you want to lay down for long. To date I have read about 80% of Robert Swartwoods offerings. He has quickly moved up into the top 10 of my favorite authors. Looking forward to book three!

I really am enjoying this series. The action is fast, the suspense is intense, many surprises and real horror to think that such people could actually exist in our world. The story is very believable, though I hate to think these things could really happen.

If you were lucky enough to read "Man of Wax" you will already have an idea of the background involved in this story. If not, "The Inner Circle" can work as a standalone novel, but you will understand more if you have read the first novel in what is looking to be an excellent trilogy. Definitely not light, entertaining fiction. Instead this is a book that delves into the darker side of human nature and an examination of the Edmund Burke quote "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing". Exactly how far would you go to stop an evil larger than you? That spreads beyond your life and randomly attacks innocent people? What would you sacrifice? How many battles could you fight before deciding that you have had enough? Or, would you have the strength to fight to the end, even though the end will take your own life, too?

We are back with Ben, Carver, the Kid and the rest of the gang as they try to rescue players from "the Game". A reality show that first takes your family, then forces you to destroy everything about yourself that you thought was good, or an essential part of your self. This part also examines more closely the type of people that would be involved in a reality show like this, from the people that run interference to make sure the "gamer" performs as ordered to the people that pay to watch the games. We also get the first real introduction to Caesar and asked the question "What was the greatest thing the Roman Empire gave the world." The answer is not roads (just a clue).

We had to wait almost a year for the second installment of this trilogy. I am eagerly awaiting part three!

I enjoyed this book a lot more than the first one, and a lot more than I thought I would. The pace was quick and the characters were believable. A couple of nasty twists, and a thoroughly enjoyable book. The violence and sadism was a bit graphic though, not for the squeamish.

If you liked Man of Wax, you'll like this one too. Picks up two years later and never stops. To say that what Robert Swartwood puts his characters through is intense would be an understatement. Can't wait for the next one.

This is the fourth book I've read by Mr. Swartwood, the second in the Man of Wax Trilogy. I can honestly say that I was sucked in and totally immersed in this Trilogy! After reading the first installment, Man of Wax, I didn't think it could get any better. Boy, was I wrong, it did!

It had been awhile since I finished reading Man of Wax and I wasn't sure if I would remember the storyline. Not a problem there! I had signed up for Mr. Swartwood's newsletter updates and received an offer to read an advance copy of his second book in the Trilogy, The Inner Circle. From the first page on I was hooked all over again. Now I will have to sit back and wait on the third book, but I'm sure it will be worth the wait.

Overall, if you'd like a great thriller with horror, suspense, exciting storyline, and more, you will love this book! Thank you, Mr. Swartwood for the great entertainment. Can't wait for more!

So many of us who have had the fortune of coming across the extremely well-written extremely tense, edge-of-your seat thriller, Man Of Wax, have been waiting for this one with indescribable anticipation - it does not disappoint.

Two years on, our former prey and protagonist, Ben, is relentlessly on the hunt for the mysterious and seemingly omni-potent, Caesar, a ruthless entity connected to the highest echelons of social order, and whose aim it is to offer up the common man as victim and sacrifice in a game of death - a game that is streamed across the deepest, darkest corridors of the net, to those with tastes for the extreme.

In this gripping sequel, we are lead into the realm of this depraved society of Venetian mask-wielding voyeurs, known as the Inner Circle.

I read Man of Wax- from the first page - i couldn't read fast enough - what a ride - then it ended - and I had to wait - and wait- thankfully i got an arc to the inner circle - and could read some more and once again - I am taken on a ride and wonder where the storyline of the book will go. It is thrilling, scary, a little more rough than man of wax - but of course it has me reading to find out what will happen and why -and now - once again i must wait for the third book - -It is a must read book for anyone who loves psychological thrillers!
