Book Description

How Science and the Supernatural Changed My Life

“One day one of my professors asked me if it was true that I was a Bible-believing Christian. When I answered yes, his polite, upbeat attitude instantly turned rude and arrogant. In front of my peers, he insulted my intelligence, belittled my faith, and discredited the Bible. To him there was absolutely no doubt that science and academia had shown the pure ‘insanity of such belief,’” writes author Max Davis.
Written from his journalistic point of view, The Insanity of Unbelief is a result of the author’s 30-year walk from childlike belief, to skepticism, and finally deep, secure faith. The contents are based on his expert and thorough research of solid facts versus what many atheists, agnostics, and even some believers tout.
Different from other apologetic books is the addition of true, documented, supernatural experiences and miracles making a compelling—and exciting—argument for the reality and power of God!

Editorial Reviews

“In The Insanity of Unbelief Max points the way to truth, in one of the clearest declarations I have yet to read on the subject. With tender & convincing passion, Max grabs the reader by the hand and leads them to truth and freedom.”
— Ron DiCianni, renowned Christian artist, bestselling author, winner of 6 Gold Medallion awards for Christian publishing

"The Insanity of Unbelief" is one of the most important books I have ever read. If I could I would stand on the street corner and hand out copies to everyone I meet. I don't think I'm going to far when I suggest that it's going to become a classic."
— Richard Exley, bestselling author, radio personality, and pastor of Gateway Church in Shreveport, Louisiana

“This book is so engaging and so refreshing. It addresses the issue of unbelief head on, makes you feel normal for having your doubts and then squarely plants the evidence that God is real and does care about you and me and does indeed answer prayers, sometimes through incredible miracles. You will never be the same after reading this book! It is a powerful, powerful, powerful book!”
—    Larry J. Koenig, Ph.D. bestselling author of Mental Toughness and Smart Discipline

5.0 out of 5 stars A Documented Experiential Approach to Apologetics October 28, 2012
Within the first five pages I was hooked. I had to go on and read the entirety of Max Davis' book "The Insanity of Unbelief" which tells of his own spiritual journey from belief to skepticism to deep faith through the eyes and experiences of a journalist.

The book relates inspiring stories of real life encounters with Jesus, incredible miracles of healing with documented medical records, powerful evidence and solid facts required in journalistic writing. Stories of answered prayer are engaging and uplifting backed up with powerful evidence.

Davis carefully details the criteria of how a journalist is trained to break down the facts as he applies the approach to the illustrations used throughout the book. He also provides the reader with guidelines for safely discerning God's voice, archaeological evidence of the supernatural nature of the Bible and the fulfillment of prophecy of Jesus as the promised Messiah.

Davis writes with clarity and passion to encourage believers and those whom God is drawing to Himself. "The Insanity of Unbelief: A Journalist's Journey from Belief to Skepticism to Deep Faith" is moving and scholarly, thought provoking, and compassionate addressing the uncertainties of exceptionally intelligent people with doubts about their own beliefs. Davis delivers an important message to a politically correct, culturally relevant, media driven society.

A complimentary copy of this book was provided for review purposes. The opinions expressed are my own.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally, faith addressed from a non-biased view! January 30, 2013
By T. Mayo
After watching this youtube trailer on The Insanity of Unbelief before it was released [...]I could hardly wait for the book to become available. Finally, someone was addressing the seed of skepticism that our present education system, Hollywood and the media plants in the minds of our young adults. I had watched my own son, who had joyfully proclaimed his faith as a youth, become skeptical during his college years which turned to cynicism as life's disappointments added to his doubt. Max's book is everything he claims it to be. His journalistic approach to proof of God's existence leaves no room for doubt. He provides not only personal interviews with those who have received undeniable miracles but also medical documentation to back them. He even takes it a step further in examining any possibilities that these individuals might have for fraudulent motives in telling their stories. The only way a skeptic can read this book and not be swayed by the evidence is to conscientiously choose to believe a lie. As great as all the amazing personal testimonies, scientific evidences and examples of famous intellectual believers are, my favorite element of The Insanity of Unbelief is still the very tangible sense that the author himself has lived through the skepticism, doubt and cynicism only to arrive on the other side with a deep abiding faith that cannot be shaken by any amount of our present societies agenda to discredit it. That inspires hope and fresh determination in believing that God is not only capable, but active in destroying strongholds of skepticism that our world views have heaped on to our next generation.

5.0 out of 5 stars Apologetics Explosion January 28, 2013
I like the blend of traditional apologetics and the usually omitted sceptical objections that Max Davis has encorporated in his book, The Insanity of Unbelief. He gives us accounts of present-day miracles, not just biblical artifacts and archeological discoveries. His chapter "A Truly Supernatural Book" is great. Max asks: "Why do some hate it (the Bible) so much that they'd burn it along with it's readers, while others love it so much they'd willingly die to protect it?" He reminds us, to this day, despite the efforts throughout history to snuff it out, the Bible remains the number one bestselling book of all time.

Max reminds us that the Unity of Biblical Writings, Historical Accuracy, Archeological Evidence, Scientific Discoveries, Fulfilled Historical Prophecy, and Fulfilled Messianic Prophecy lead us to conclude "The Insanity of Unbelief." Why was Matthew nailed to the ground with short spears and then beheaded if he was promoting a lie?
Why was John boiled in oil and forced to drink poison and yet DIDN'T die? Why was Philip whipped, imprisoned, and then tied to a pillar and stoned to death if Jesus' resurrection was just a fable?

This is an essential book for the high school seniors entering the wolves' domain on college campuses. The contents need to be taught in our churches and bible studies. We need to be prepared as much as possible to answer the searching, the doubting, the sceptics, and the unbelievers. If you know someone who might be open to truth and eventually find Christ, give this book to them and pray for them to become enlightened. With God, anything is possible.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thorough and solid... December 30, 2012
By Friend
I think this is an excellent book that thoroughly explores every angle of faith in God. You can tell the author did his homework with extensive research on each area he covers. Most believers struggle at some point with their faith, and this book is a great encouragement and confirmation that believing the Bible is the TRUTH and the way. For the unbeliever, truth is presented logically along with various people's testimonies and miracles that cannot be refuted. There is no fluff but just fact, and it is presented in an engaging, inoffensive way that is likely to draw an unbeliever who is open enough to hear truth. I like how the book documents experts' opinions, tells of bona fide life changing miracles, presents documented scientific evidence confirming truths from the Bible, reveals personal experiences of the author that helped shape his belief, reminds us of where evil comes from and that we have an enemy, tells how people can be set free from unbelief, and brings attention to those who have died for the cause of Christ because they genuinely knew Him. I highly recommend this book, and for me it will not be a one-time read!
