"I did not expect to read this in one sitting, but once I started I couldn't stop. The Inside-Out Revolution encompasses the beauty and wisdom of the ages, delivered in a way that makes it extremely relevant to today's challenges. The author of this book is an established well known radio show host, transformational coach, and best-selling author of the books, You Can Have What You Want, Supercoach, Feel Happy Now, and several others.

There are many books and seminars out there that claim to offer the secrets of living a more authentic, a more empowered, a more stress free life. I have read many of them and have attended a few of the seminars over the years. Each have a couple of things in common: focusing on developing a positive mental outlook, and putting into play many new external transformative action habits. What makes Michael Neill's book unique and distinctive here is his approach. Inside out understanding is what he describes it as. A descriptive quote by his mentor, Syd Banks, about the approach is the following: "The difference between riding on and down a twisting, jarring roller coaster and floating down a river."

Michael Neill had this to say about our societies outside thinking mindset:
"The prevailing model in our culture is that our experience of life is created from the outside in - that is, what happens to us on the outside determines our experience on the inside. People or circumstances `make' us happy, angry, sad, fearful, or loving, and the game of life is to find, attract, create, or manifest the right people and circumstances in order to have more of the good feelings and fewer of the bad ones."

Author Neill bases his writing on what he calls The Three Principles. They are:
1. Mind.
There is an energy and intelligence behind life.

2. Consciousness.
The capacity to be aware and experience life is innate in human beings. It is a universal phenomenon.

It's rare I read a book which changes the way I see things.
Rarer still, I read a book which changes an aspect of how I live.
Most unusually, I read a book which fundamentally changes the foundation of my core being in a way previously unheard of. Here's why:

It gets you to give up the chase to find the answer to life (what a big sigh of relief!).
Instead of looking for the answer "out there", ie, the information on the internet or blogs or books or people etc, the books suggests a very improbable source of finding the answer. You already have the answer, and it's within, or inside of you.

The great thing about the book is that it gives you an understanding of where our experience comes from as we go through in life, in business, and relating with others, and clears up any misunderstandings that we all thought were true. With that understanding, what you see in the world begins to change by itself, even when the circumstances (or anything 'out there') doesn't change. They change is actually occurring internally. As it changes, different perspectives emerges and thus different ways of going through life, in business and relating to others emerge. Therefore, we gain greater access to being more loving, productive, understanding and better decisions occur naturally and effortlessly, just like a duck taking to water.

The book does not tell you what to do, nor does it give you the answer. What it does instead, is that it guides to going within. It's in that place within you where the answers lie. The book will guide you. Probably the hardest challenge is grasping the sheer simplicity of it, depending on your state of mind when you first read the Inside Out Revolution.

Last year I started learning about the "inside out understanding of the world", which has been life changing.
"Life changing?" a dear friend asked me today. "How?".
Well, I explained, I feel as if a huge weight had been lifted from me.
I'd spent the previous five years practising techniques for keeping me `happy' and `successful'. I was pretty good at it, but it was hard work. And when I wasn't quite diligent enough to carry out my rituals (meditation/gratitude diary/state change/visualisation/communication technique/7 point plan for a happy/successful life/relationship/business and so on) I'd beat myself up for failing, and blame myself for not being happy.
What Michael has showed me was that by simply having a better understanding of how we experience the world (for example what we tell ourselves about happiness/success/commitment and so on), we can more easily connect with our innate well-being without doing anything. The relief for me was the `without doing anything'. I was off the hook - no more to do lists, or feeling bad for dropping the ball in the constant task of keeping myself in a good place. This was a huge relief.
It was as if I'd been struggling with some complicated machinery for pushing giant boulders down a hill. I now realised that all I'd been doing was getting in the way. With absolutely no effort on my part I could just stand back and gravity would do the work for me.
I'm continuing with what's likely to be a life-long mission to deepen my understanding, and this book is my guide.
My current flurry of revelation comes from the notion that whatever I'm feeling is a product of my thinking (and not of my external circumstance).
