In my opinion The Interpretation of Dreams is the most influential book in the history of psychology, followed closely by the work of Carl Jung. Freud went to places that were controversial and untouched. The concept that men may all have sexual desires for their mothers was some racy stuff for his time. Freud's work is enlightening and several of the pillars of modern psychology. This is a great edition of Freud's legendary work.

Very few books throughout history have offered so much insight into the human mind than Freud's The Interpretation of Dreams. I hadn't read it since I was in college and forgot just how insightful it is. It was a lot of fun to revisit it. I definitely got more out of it the second time around.

Freud's work on dream interpretation was a watershed in the field of psychology. Despite its weight and influence, The Interpretation of Dreams can be read by anyone without any training at all. One of its main contributions is the concept of the unconscious mind or subconscious. It's hard to imagine discussing human nature without that concept, but that's the way it was prior to Freud.

It's hard to imagine people still arguing over a text written over a hundred years ago, but Freud's ideas are so strong that they still provoke vehement discussions between people today. This is definitely Freud's most accessible work that can be understood and enjoyed by anyone.
