This EP is a fantastic "Introduction" to Cherine Anderson, but it wasn't mine.

Back around 2006 I got in late one night, dog tired, and just in time to catch Muzik Media, "New Jersey's # 1 Source for Caribbean Music and Entertainment" on tv. I settled down on the couch in the dark, more than ready to unwind, and right after the obligatory immigration lawyer and Golden Krust commercials this soothing, melodious music began pulsing from the screen. As tired as I was, I moved up to the edge of my seat and set down my Ting on the carpet. The production was exemplary. Throbbing, heartbeat bass, rain-on-a-tin-roof drum track, soft, janky organ...I thought it must be Sly & Robbie. It was. And this angel, the siren with the most seductive singing voice I'd heard since J.C. Lodge...who was she? Well, that was my introduction to the music of Cherine Anderson. (It was only later that I recognized her as the young girl from "Dancehall Queen", a movie I'd seen almost a decade earlier.)

"Good Love" blew me away. I snagged a copy of it on a dancehall compilation and sought out more from Ms. Anderson, to no avail. Eventually, three years later, I found "The Introduction: Dubstyle EP". The question was, would it live up to "Good Love", which even after three years and hundreds of spins, had never tarnished in my mind.

The answer, thankfully, was a resounding "Yes!"

"The Introduction" is an 8 track Sly & Robbie produced banger (9 tracks if you count the 30 second intro, which is actually a reprise of track # 4, "Shine on Jamaica"). There is no filler, no wasted space. Every track is a 10 out of 10.

The album roughly splits the difference between conscious tunes and lover's rock with 3 of the former and five of the latter.

I am late to the game on Cherine but...BETTER LATE THAN NEVER!! Saw her late one night on tv in the movie One Love. Looked her up on Google then on YouTube. I saw and heard her song Haffi Come Back and have been hooked ever since...had to kinda work my way backwards to the beginning of her career to get a true sense of her music...a TRUE ARTIST in every way! Her EP is GREAT!! Can't wait for the next one. Would totally pay money to see her perform here in the states and I don't even like going to concerts!! Buy this CD...it doesn't disappoint!!

Great album excellent prodution ,Ja finest Vocalist . We haven't heard a voice like this in Reggae in Years. Compare her to Marcia Griffiths, she pure heart and soul. Been touring with Michael Franti and singing her heart out."Shine on Jamaica" should be a huge hit! Shine on Sly and Robbie for great prodution!

Been a reggae fan for 30 years; LOVE this artist! Great vocals, crisp lyrics, and tough beats that, on tracks 2, 3 and 9 evoke reggae's halcyon days of old. 87
