Betty Nearing is an accomplished short story writer and a contributing author to Patchwork Path anthologies: Wedding Bouquet, Christmas Stocking, and Treasure Box. She has improved her craft by completing in several on-line fiction and novel writing classes at Gotham Writing Workshop. The Island House is the result of her 50,000 word win in the 2010 National Novel Writing Month contenst. She is currently working on a novel about her Puritan ancestors--in particular a great grandmother who was tried for witchcraft, titled "Hang the Witch." Based on fact, it is a creative non-fiction novel about a young girl who was ultimately convicted and sentenced to hang. Betty has always loved to write and spends most of her time, in addition to her novel, writing stories from her childhood memories and her parents memories.
The Kindle formatting took away from the story. I thought it was a little long at the end but enjoyed the story.Published on August 22, 2013 by Cherri W.
