A small island off the western coast of Scotland was of vital importance to the earliest years of the Christianization of England and Northern Europe. An Irish monk named Columba came to Iona in the 6th century to spread the Christian faith. Right up to the present day, many pilgrims have followed and continue to follow in Columba's footsteps.

this documentary talks about the history of ireland and recounts stories relating to various irish ruins/sites, but the main feature of the film is the island itself, shown through great sweeping shots taken from a helicopter. the film doesn't go too in depth on any particular topic, but visually, it's really enjoyable to watch, whether you've been to ireland, or want to go. i think this would be a good film to watch when planning a trip, as it can give an idea of what sites one might want to visit.

Captured the beauty of the country while providing some history as well. Was set to beautiful music. Had the sensation of slowly gliding above the landscape. Very enjoyable.

the fleecing of Ireland and it's resources by the English began well before Walter Raleigh. The famine wasn't simply caused by crop failure...but the failure of the English to plant other crops ...they were in fact in control of the plantings and land. Only the North American Choctaw Indians helped the irish significantly .....surpassing Queen Victoria. Imagine. A desolate native American tribe giving more than the Queen whose fleet had subdued 94 nations. think on that awhile.

Beautiful photography laced with an Irish accent and a good sense of the history that explains what you see. More than just a visual extravaganza, it is a fascinating look at the history and the land, making it easier to understand how they are interrelated. Bravo!

We enjoyed this film/documentary very much. It depicts Ireland's topography in a way only aerial photography can capture. The natural beauty of Ireland's unique western coastline, its mountains and valleys are stunning.
