Book Description

It hasn't been a very good day for attorney Samantha Khouri. She's been passed over for partner at her law firm, she's coming down with the flu, and she's just learned that her parents' business is teetering on the brink of failure.

But when she discovers that her financially desperate boss has stolen their new client's gigantic winning lottery ticket, she realizes her day is just getting started.

Now, to return the ticket to its rightful owner, Samantha must stay one step ahead of her nothing-to-lose boss and a homicidal mercenary who's been hired to hunt down the ticket at all costs.

And as her pursuers close in, Samantha can't help but think about showing up at lottery headquarters, smiling for the camera, and walking away with the richest lottery jackpot in American history.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"It's rich in characterization, suspense, and pacing that will leave your heart pounding, and I don't mean that metaphorically. His plot and dialogue race along with the casual mastery of Richard Price ("Lush Life"), the complexity of David Baldacci's best novels, and the moral imperative of James Lee Burke." - White Cat Magazine

"David Kazzie is an exceptional writer, I was hooked from the first page and could not put it down." - The Kindle Book Review

"This is an extremely well written, captivating novel. Kazzie has a superb way with words and is able to keep the reader easily engulfed within this suspenseful tale of deceit and betrayal." - A Book Vacation

"The fast-pace and rich details of this thriller combined with the entertaining and crisp dialogue of Jackpot make this novel and David Kazzie a new favorite." - Lynnette's Book World

5.0 out of 5 stars John Grisham by way of Carl Hiaasen June 29, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
"The Jackpot" is just a fantastic book. It's a page-turning thriller that is filled with humor and great characters. And these are fully fleshed out characters, who make relatable decisions. They are not always the smartest decisions, but the reasons they made those decisions make sense for the character.

This is not a by-the-numbers thriller. Each plot twist took me by surprise. Every page was more exciting and intriguing then the last.

But personally the best aspect of this book is the main character Samantha. Just that the main character of this type of thriller is a woman is something new. But Samantha is a fascinating woman. She's strong-willed, determined, hilarious, and vulnerable. From the second you meet her, you're rooting for her.

I highly recommend this book. Download it today. You will enjoy every second of it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Suspenseful Thriller July 10, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
This is an extremely well written, captivating novel. Kazzie has a superb way with words and is able to keep the reader easily engulfed within this suspenseful tale of deceit and betrayal. Samantha Khouri, an attorney trying to do right by her client, quickly finds herself in the middle of a cat and mouse chase as she attempts to return a lottery ticket, worth $415 million, to the rightful owner. Unbeknownst to Samantha, and those she comes into contact with, her life is in danger simply because she holds the key to a vast fortune.

I highly enjoyed this novel. Kazzie has created suspense at every turn in this riveting story and I could not put it down! The lives of many are intertwined as the ticket literally changes hands multiple times, through both honesty and deceit. There were so many twists and turns within the novel, yet it was easy to follow as Kazzie keeps the reader extremely well informed; the ending left me reeling as it all came together. This is an amazing debut novel and I hope that we will be seeing much more by this author. Five stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars A roller-coaster ride of a novel! December 26, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Hang on tight and grab your blood-pressure medicine! Reading this book is like being strapped into a race car in which the driver refuses to stop going 200 mph and taking corners without braking. With a likable but human protagonist, crackling dialogue, and some genuinely funny moments, this story of a winning lottery ticket will grab you in the first chapter and refuse to let you put it down. Kudos to David Kazzie on a well-plotted story. Books like this make me want to read another one by the same author - so get cracking, Mr. Kazzie! I anxiously await your next one.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Really Good Book
I loved this book. So many Kindle books are really bad. Not this one. This may be the best e-book I've read in the past year.

1.0 out of 5 stars Was disappointed in this book.
I liked the premise of this book , but it went downhill from there. Just a lot of violence and everyone getting killed. The theme was great and had so much potential.

More About the Author

Welcome! I truly appreciate your taking a few moments to read this biography.

I am the bestselling author of The Jackpot. The Jackpot is a previous Top 100 Kindle bestseller and was the #1 legal thriller in January and February 2012.

For many years, I wrote fiction in obscurity, wondering if I would ever get a break. Then one day in October 2010, I wrote a short animated video called So You Want to Go to Law School and posted it to YouTube.

This video exploded all over the Internet and it was even briefly featured on a segment on CNN, during which I was identified as "this guy."

I wrote a few more of these videos, including So You Want to Write a Novel, which also went viral, I got written up in the Wall Street Journal, the Washington Post, and the Huffington Post, and then I signed with a literary agent.

Thank you for visiting.
