This book covers what it says well -- advanced topics in the Java Enterprise space. I liked that it has a lot of short chapters that just get to the point. That's a refreshing change from so many other tech books, which seem to add lots of pages to give them more 'thunk'.

As a example, the message-driven beans chapter is just seven pages, which is great. It covers the meat and potatoes of MDBs, doesn't gum it with extraneous stuff, and gets into the nuances.

It assumes you know a fair bit about J2EE (or JEE if you're hip), and it pairs nicely with the Java EE Tutorial - Basic Concepts. If you have both on your bookshelf you'll have what you need to work in this space.

Fairly good information, but not written as cleanly as one might hope. Definitely not a beginning book BTW, more intermediate to advanced.

This is a good book when you have a good understanding of J2EE otherwise I would recommend to buy a basic one.
