Editorial Reviews

The Jeffersons was a breakthrough series – the first television show to feature a well-to-do African American family living in luxury. In its sixth season, the show remained fresh thanks to the unconventional wit of series developer Norman Lear (TV’s "All in the Family" and "Good Times") and its very popular characters including loud-mouthed George Jefferson (Sherman Hemsley), his long-suffering wife Louise (Isabel Sanford), and their wise-cracking maid Florence (Marla Gibbs). Highlights this season include the two-part "The Arrival," where Lionel (Mike Evans), returning to the role he originated) and wife Jenny (Berlinda Tolbert) welcome baby Jessica (leave it to George to worry about the color of the baby) and the "Brother Tom," where George teaches Tom Willis (Franklin Cover) how to act black in order to impress his wife Helen (Roxie Roker). A landmark of classic TV, the sixth season of The Jeffersons tackled taboos while delivering the biggest laughs ever.

Wow! I feel like a little kid at Xmas time, with the long awaited release of Maude on March 20th, a six season release of All in the Family Feb. 13th, and another installment of The Jeffersons!!! Thank you Sony!!! Eventhough I'm thankful to see The Jeffersons being released, it would be nice if there was some kind of tribute or rememberance of cast members who are no longer with us, which include Roxie Roker, Franklin Cover, Isabel Sanford, and Mike Evans. I was looking at an episode of All in the Family today on dvd (The one when George and Louise move on up), and it was kind of sad to realize that more than half of the original cast of the Jeffersons is gone, along with Mother Jefferson.

Unfortunately, most shows from the 70's don't get the royal treatment with dvd extras like current tv shows. It just seems like the studios just don't care enough to take the time to include the actors, who are a major part of the shows success. I'm sure Sherman Hemsley, Marla Gibbs, Paul Benedict, and Belinda Tolbert would love to share their stories of being apart of a sitcom classic!!! Oh well, I guess I'll just be grateful to even get The Jeffersons and All in the Family on dvd!

It's great to see that the sixth season of "The Jeffersons" is now slated for release, just seven months following the DVD set of the fifth season. This puts the series on DVD past the halfway point now!

Despite the fact that this set is bound to be similar to the previous five (with no extras and some video tape picture problems), it is still a worthwhile purchase just to get these classic episodes in their original, uncut CBS broadcast versions. Each episode that I can view in this fashion, as opposed to the butchered reruns shown on TV Land, is a great thing in my opinion!

Supporting this box set should only serve to give Sony Pictures Home Entertainment more faith to continue releasing this series on DVD. If you enjoy this show at all, please shell out the few dollars it will take to own this one. Let's see if we can't get all eleven seasons released!

Wow, I can't believe that season six of the Jeffersons is already on its way for release on DVD! I am so glad we don't have to wait until the end of summer to get another great set. I love this show so much and I can't wait to see the original Lionel Jefferson(Mike Evans)return to play his role again. Please keep this show coming!

Without Question one of the greatist shows in TV history!!one of my favorite episodes is in season 6. Where George gives Tom a few lessons on how to be black. Tom feels out of place in the company of Helens friends and tries to fit in by acting black. it back fires and Tom is made to look like a fool.My favorite.

Happily, Mike Evans(RIP) is back in season 6 and this season is one of my favorites. Killer rabbits on Halloween, George getting the "small" businessman award, Jessica is born, "brother" Tom, and the episode where Louise unintentionally neglects a teenage girl who tries to kill herself. This is one of my favorite tv shows and I plan on buying every season. Keep 'em coming!

"The Jeffersons - The Complete Sixth Season" continues with George & Louise living the glamorous life in their Manhattan apartment hi-rise complex. There are two notable cast changes this season - gone is Jay Hammer, who portrayed Allan Willis in Season Five. Mike Evans returns to the cast after a four season absence, with the role of Lionel previously played by Damon Evans (no relation), a role Damon fulfilled for three seasons. Mike had originally played the role of Lionel during the first season, but left soon afterward to co-produce a sitcom he helped create - "Good Times". When "GT" ended its six-season run in 1979, Mike Evans returned to the cast of "TJ". Lionel #1 would return just in time for he & Jenny to witness the birth of their daughter Jessica - with George, Louise, Tom & Helen all becoming grandparents for the first time in the episode titled "The Expectant Father". Louise is a material witness of a murder in the episode "Now You See It, Now You Don't", where she is talen hostage by the criminal, who's wearing a rabbit suit. Tom tries hard to impress Helen's friends in the hilarious episode "Brother Tom". George clashes with a hot-headed individual who challenges George to a boxing match in "Joltin' George" - a very funny episode! George winds up in a mental hospital in "One Flew Into The Cuckoo's Nest", while Louise & Florence duke it out in "Louise vs. Florence". There are still a plethora of great, funny episodes to choose from here. Pick up Season Six today! The only other question that needs to be answered is: "When will the final five seasons of 'The Jeffersons' be released?". It's been seven years since Season Six was released! Hopefully Shout! Factory will release seasons 7 through 11 very soon.

R.I.P., Sherman Hemsley, Isabel Sanford, Roxie Roker, Franklin Cover, Paul Benedict, Mike Evans, Vernon Washington & Ned Wertimer.

I am near 12 Years old, and I happened to love watching the Late Isabel Sanford ("All in The Family", "Lady Sings the Blues", "Love at First Bite") reprises her role again the 1979-1980 year of The Jeffersons. In The sixth year of the show from 1979 until 1982, The Show rises back onto the top five best shows on The Nielsen Ratings (the first being back in 1975), and More laughs include in the sixth year, as Sherman Hemsley, Roxie Roker, Franklin Cover and Paul Benedict serves more laughs, and Berlinda Tolbert as Jenny Willis Jefferson as she gives birth to a baby girl Jessica. and the late Mike Evans returns for two seasons (1979-1981), and more laughs!! get this season, on March 27!, Jeffersons are moving on up!!!

Jeffersons Seasons 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11
A most excellent proposal. In fact, this process has been done with the recent releases of THE COSBY SHOW Seasons 3 and 4. And on November 6,First Look Entertainment, the distributor, will release seasons 5 and 6 of TCS.

Season 7
Season 7 and the following four will be released eventually. Once you start releasing season sets of a series,it must be done from first to last. Someone told me that, unfortunately,a lot of studios don't think that way, they're just concerned about money-making.
