The SmartSuit 3 is a dazzling all-over case for the iPad, combining an intelligent cover, a hard-shell back, and killer good looks.
Attractiveness Comes Standard
One part fashion statement, one part iPad guardian, the SmartSuit 3 is an accessory you won't want to be without. The down-to-business Black SmartSuit and its stunning Silver associate are now joined by a brazen new Bronze SmartSuit, so there's one to go with every occasion, mood, or outfit.
The Smartest Cover Available
In a world of smart covers, the SmartSuit 3 is a genius. The SmartSuit 3 cover wakes your iPad up when you open it and puts it fast to sleep when you close it. Now when you decide to take a break and curl up with your favorite iBook, your fingers can take a break too, because the SmartSuit 3 magnetically holds the cover open for you. And if you want watch a movie or type some e-mails, the SmartSuit 3 cover folds into a stand with two positions--tall for media viewing, and low-profile for comfortable typing.
Green Meets Gorgeous
We want to add more joy to your environment--not more trash. The SmartSuit 3 comes packaged in a reusable, water-resistant sleeve instead of single-use packaging. This powerful protective cover is strong enough to keep your iPad safe from spills, yet thin enough to transmit your every multi-touch gesture. And taking the place of disposable packing foam, The Joy Factory has included a monogrammed mouse pad for your continued use at home or the office. The Joy Factory is committed to making the best products in the world while being kind to the planet, so each Joy Factory purchase is one you can be proud of.

Note that the pictures of the SmartSuit3 on the Amazon web site don't do it any justice as the pictures are too dark (i.e, black) so you are unable to see properly its textured appearance, which is one of its great features. If you check availability at various vendors and check it out in person, you will likely highly appreciate its look and "feel" (on your skin/hands). It is truly "slick", chic, and professional in appearance. (Note that the pictures of the bronze color version of the SmartSuit3 do give some level of indication of the textured appearance but still doesn't quite capture the actual textured look of the black version)
The SmartSuit3 comes in three colors - black, bronze, and white. I did not like the white version that I have seen in person but individual tastes vary considerably. Looking at the bronze version in person, it appears to be a little lighter (less brown) than depicted in the pictures. Of all three colors, I liked the black the best.
Unlike the Smartsuit3, a lot of other ipad covers cover the bezel thus taking away from the chic Apple design and look. For instance, of what use is a white ipad, if the white bezel is covered? Covering up the bezel not only makes a cover appear relatively bulky, but it also is a hindrance/obstacle when using your hand to swipe across the ipad screen near its edges.Read more ›
I was looking for a case that bascially emulated my previous combo except in a single case so that the cover could not detach. After reading strong endorsements of this product on Ars Technica and elsewhere, I was excited to get this case.
There are a lot of positives about this case:
- The case is very slim and lightweight.
- The microfiber material covers the majority of the back plate and all of the front cover, offering good protection against scratches.
- When the cover is folded back, a magnet holds it in place on the back of the iPad. This is the most stand out innovative feature of this case.
- The outer cover of the case is a rubbery textured material which feels and looks pretty good considering the cost of the case. The appearance is acceptible in a professional setting.
I was dissapointed to see that the back cover on this case had less coverage than my Belkin cover. Specifically, the smartsuit leaves the upper corner of the short edges of the iPad exposed. The plastic goes all the way out to the corner on the long edge. I'm not sure why they left that little bit of bezel exposed on both edges. I am worried that I will scratch the corner of my iPad on my belt buckle while using it on my lap.
Ultimately, the hinge on the cover kills it for me. The hinge is made of the same soft material that covers the case. As a result, it is rather saggy. If you put any lateral force on the cover at all, the cover slides so that it is mis-aligned with the iPad.Read more ›
-4 foldable pieces on the front cover allows more folded positions,
- Solid build quality on the back cover and front cover with fabric materials gives it a different appearance than most cases
- Fairly lightweight still, hella lighter compared to the pixel ipad case I just returned.
- Has smart cover like magnets with auto on and off.
- Slots where they belong as they used be.
No cons so far that I can see, it's an lightweight alternative with adequate protection in a stunning package.
Protip: I got mine from BH Photo for 42 bucks instead of being on the amazon "waitlist" for days and being charged a higher price.
This case had everything that I was looking for: a thin profile, front and rear protection, rear magnets (which hold the front cover in place when its folded around to the back), typing and stand-up modes, and a professional appearance. It meets all of those needs very well.
One of my favorite things about this case is its material; it provides an easy-to-grip texture, but not one that dirt/grime will cling to. It's also not going to show any scratches that may accumulate over time. Another nice touch is the "soft" material on the inside of the back of the case, which prevents any dirt from getting between the iPad and the case that might scratch the iPad's aluminum back.
