Editorial Reviews

Come rain or come shine, the legendary, lustrous Judy Garland lights up the small screen once again in this all-new collection, The Judy Garland Show: Volume Five, radiating on DVD August 31 from Infinity Entertainment Group. Ending its critically acclaimed, Emmy-nominated CBS-TV run after just one season (1963-64), the show's 26 episodes are revered by many today as the beloved entertainer's finest work. Featured guests in this star-studded, medley-filled two-episode set are TV's Renaissance man and Tonight Show creator Steve Allen; famed musician Mel Tormé, a.k.a. 'The Velvet Fog'; stage, film and television legend Jayne Meadows; and Tony Award-winning and Academy Award and Emmy-nominated actress Diahann Carroll (Porgy and Bess, TV's Dynasty). Included are a Richard Rodgers/Harold Arlen medley, Allen's original song hits, Tormé's 'Blues in the Night' and such Garland favorites as 'Hey Look Me Over,' 'Smile' and selections from her Carnegie Hall concert repertoire. Restored and digitally remastered from the original videotapes and digitally remixed sound in 5.1 surround sound, this program and its dynamic diva will move you like no one else!

Following the releases of the first four volumes comes volume five of "The Judy Garland Show" being released on August 31, 2010. This set includes the following two episodes: #21 that was originally broadcast on CBS on February 16, 1964 and taped on January 31, 1964. It features Diahann Carroll and Mel Torme; the second show included is #11 broadcast on January 5, 1964 and taped on October 18, 1963 and features Steve Allen, Jayne Meadows, and Mel Torme. Song highlights include "Hey Look Me Over", "Smile", and selections from Judy's Carnegie Hall concerts.
The sound is 5.1 surround and the episodes look impeccable having been restored from their studio master tapes. Running time is 106 minutes.

Don't miss out....The Judy Garland Show may have been short-lived, but there are endless moments of magic to be discovered.
The show with guest Diahann Carroll is fabulous! Diahann's solo spot is exceptional, and Judy delivers with knock out performances including "Smile", "Alone Together" and "Come Rain Or Come Shine". Mel Torme slows things down but don't let this distract you, this is one of Judy's better shows. And check out her outfit! The Steve Allen show includes her duet with Steve singing tunes from "Sophie", and the show-stopper is "I'll Show Them All" - Judy nails it. This is must-see TV during it's glory years. Enjoy!
