Biography

Singer-songwriter KT Tunstall‘s stunning new album Invisible Empire // Crescent Moon is her first release in the U.S. on Blue Note Records.

IECM represents both a return to the delicate simplicity of the multi-platinum artist’s early work and an evolution of her sound. IECM’s country-folk tinged undercurrents grew out of KT’s decision to travel to Tucson, Arizona ... Read more in Amazon's KT Tunstall Store

KT continues to show her talent in this brief collection of holiday songs. Probably my only negatives are that it should be a complete album instead of 6 tunes. (maybe next year) & they could have used some fresh pictures of KT for the cover art, not this one that I've seen a few times already over the last year or so. Her version of 2000 miles is musically very close to the original by the Pretenders but KT's vocals are a bit clearer & just better (No offense to Pretenders fans, which I am also). There is a variety of styles going on here, which KT pulls all off all very well. The "Christmas (baby please come home)" has a nice rock drive to it & the cd finishes with the soft & mellow "Lonely this Christmas" This is a must for all KT AND Christmas fans alike !!!!

This is such a great CD. I agree with the other reviewer, I too wish it had more tracks. I love her version of "Mele Kalikimaka". You won't be disappointed with this CD. It's beautiful.

Love this CD. Really like the offbeat selection of songs. A great addition to our Christmas music collection! Just wish there were more songs.

This CD is great for anyone who loves KT Tunstall or is looking for some different non-traditional Christmas songs. Her cover of The Pretenders' "2000 Miles" is fairly faithful to the original, which I believe is a good thing in this case. There's a great rocking version of "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)" and the somewhat cutesy holiday song "Mele Kalikimaka (Christmas in Hawaii)", complete with what sounds like a xylophone. The one traditional holiday song included is "Sleigh Ride", which again uses a xylophone for a fun sound. A song originally done by The Pogues in 1987, this was my first exposure to "Fairytale of New York", a really energetic song with an Irish feel. I can't help but move a little to it each time I listen. Finally, "Lonely this Christmas" is probably the saddest holiday song I've ever heard; it gives me goosebumps and almost makes me want to cry, yet I still love the song.

KT is always great and I really love this album. Of course I don't think KT has a single song I don't like.
