After the death of Senator Ted Kennedy I was looking for a book like this. Just my opinion but I would have changed the title by dropping the word Dynasty and changing it to Era. But as noted thats just me.
If you are emotional you will feel a bit of sadness as you read this book, especially as you reflect back over their lives.
Now as I write this I realize that tomorrow, 22 Nov 09, is the 46th anniversary of JFK's assassination. Yes, when we lost Ted it truely was the end of an Era, one of which, in my lifetime, we shall not see again.
As to the Book Review, it is definitely an excellent book and an easy read. It will bring back many memories, some bad but most good.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who liked JFK, Bobby and Ted.

This is a nice tribute to JFK, RFK, and Ted. With Ted Kennedy's death, I feel like it is definitely the end of an era. I loved the pictures that included Ted's funeral and the days after his death with the picture of the family lined up outside the Hyannis Port house as Ted's coffin is being carried away. This book is for those who want to remember a time of hope and promise and who want to view excellent photos at the same time.

Excellent surface level look at the Kennedy family, including history most people aren't aware of. Great pix.

I enjoy reading many types of books, but there is always an interest in reading anything about the Kennedy family. This was an interesting read about the history of Kennedy family with a nice selection of photos. The publisher is "Life" and they did any excellent job at putting this together I would definately recommend this book for anyone who likes to read a good biography of the Kennedy family.

To give the book its credit, the photographs are beautiful. It is just the words that spoil it. The unknown author(s) seem to have adopted a breathless style of writing as if for adolescent females e.g. too many utterly banal and pointless comments about bad hair or stupid outfits. However, in amongst the ghastly saccharine there is a drip drip of toxic and unsubstantiated gossip and innuendo about the Kennedy men's extra-marital shenanigans. I lost track of how many times one read of Gloria Swanson and others. Then there are the repetitions of hearsay e.g. "it has been recorded that..." but no word of by whom or in which publication. There is reference to the work of biographer Doris Kearns Goodwin who - it turns out - has accusations of plagiarism clouding her reputation.

Thus, at first glance, this book seems to be a kindly portrait of the Kennedys, but it's subtle and repeated calumnies show it up for what it really is i.e. just another hatchet job. The prose is so awful that it is little wonder that no writer took credit - which at least is more than can be said for Mrs Goodwin.

Finally, one must take anything that LIFE magazine has to say about the JFK Assassination with a large dose of salt: this magazine was the prime asset of the CIA's "Operation Mockingbird". But please don't take my word for it! LIFE magazine bought the famous Zapruder film which was kept secret from the public until Jim Garrison managed to obtain a copy. This fact alone makes them accessories to the murder. If you want to be fed yet more lies, read this book. If you want to look at nice pictures, enjoy.

Very interesting book if you are a fan of the Kennedys. The last of the line is now gone but not forgotten. We will never see the like of them again.A.T.Kiln

The Kennedys have been an important part of my experience as an adult American. I have followed their family story with interest, admiration, dismay and sorrow. This book helps me remember those times, sometimes with pride, sometimes not. Many pages brought tears with the memories. Others brought smiles. The things I love about this book: the photos; the honest, unflinching remembrances, the brevity of each entry; the inclusion of the whole clan. The men are the main focus, but the women are not forgotten.
