Recipes You Can Use And Recommend To Others, I will tell you overall 95% of the items I cook we like. I have recommended your program to several people. Because of what I've learned from you I am able to redo my personal family favorites. My husband's diabetic/renal issues have stabilized as per last doctors visits. I told the doctors what we have been doing. They were ok with it. My husband who never liked fish has found out that he does that's thanks to your recipes. Thank you for all your service this past few months. I will still continue to recommend your program to others. - C. Wing

From the Author

This cookbook was a joy to write.  I enjoyed cooking all the meals in it.  My family still asks me to make the turkey tarragon and salmon dishes.  While I didn't manage to add a lot of pictures, I hope you love the recipes.

More About the Author

As a veteran registered dietitian, my clients are the most valuable resource I have! I work to learn from them and provide them with great information and solutions. So, the books that I write are done with a scientific background, but written for an audience of my clients - so they are easy to put into use. My first few titles were direct results of my research and my business activities but the later titles are direct from questions and requests from client emails. The books you see listed here cover several chronic conditions which are growing concerns for many in the United States and the UK. If you are a looking for a way to start your path to healthy living then find out why my clients return again and again for the next title. Diet and Nutrition for chronic conditions are the focus of my titles and my research. You will find that these titles will turn wasted hours into productive ones. In addition, I have a wonderful family and enjoy my work as CEO of Healthy Diet Menus For You, LLC and Renal Diet Headquarters. Look for our podcast on itunes under Renal Diet HQ, where you can learn more about renal diets and hear interviews with interesting experts.

I guess that the term 'renal diet' means different things to different cases. I was appalled to see recipes that would really test my potassium limits (and even some that were not what I would call 'low sodium'). It also seems to be geared more towards cooking for a family (or at least not one person). It's probably as much my fault for not paying more attention to the description before buying it. Bottom line, for my needs, this book just doesn't cut it...

I've been reading up on kidney friendly foods and recipes and I found some of these recipes using
ingredients that more than some of my other references say are not good for the kidneys. I don't
trust the information in the book and have discardied it.

I was disappointed in this book! I was hoping for some real insight and what I got was info I could get any kidney site. The book has only few receipes with hard to find ingredients. Definitely not worth the money! I recommend going to DeVita Kidney site and downloading their cookbooks for free and put them in a notebook. The result would be about the same as getting this book only better.

Learning what you can eat and how much you can eat can be overwhelming. So I was thrilled to find recipes that had a nutritional analysis. I especially liked the recipes for the low sodium chicken stock, beef broth and vegetable broth.

The beef broth makes excellent gravy. See the recipe for Beef Tips with Mushroom Gravy on p.31. The low sodium chicken stock is used in the Chicken Marsala. This recipe can be found on p.56. Yum! I know my stage of kidney disease and how much sodium and protein I can eat, so the recipes are very useful. For some of us the potassium and phosphorus is also important.

I like that the recipes are for multiple servings.

I like this book due to having every meal written down for you, no thought to it unless you want to change the meals around and do your own. Again with this book it ties in with her other books on Kidney Diease.

Bought it for a friend on a pre-dialysis diet who was overwhelmed at the prospect of changing every way she eats. She said the recipes were easy to cook and tasted delicious. Winner.

These recipes are easy to prepare and delicious. Good variety. It's hard to find delicious recipes on a restricted diet.
