More About the Author

I'm the New York Times Bestselling and USA Today bestselling author of Is This Tomorrow and Pictures of You, and the award-winning author of eight other novels. Pictures of You was a Costco "Pennie's Pick," a San Francisco Chronicle Lit Pick, and it was also on many Best of 2011 lists, including the San Francisco Chronicle, the Providence Journal, Bookmarks Magazine, and Kirkus Reviews, which also put the novel on their Top Five Novels about Family and Love list. My 10th novel IS THIS TOMORROW, about a missing child in a 1950s suburb, will be published by Algonquin Books in May 2013. I've been writing since I was in grade school (I was the one who made up books and then wrote book reports for them.) I always knew I wanted to be a writer, though being a screenwriter came in a close second. I live for books and the movies and I teach writing at UCLA and Stanford online, have private clients, and I'm a book critic for People, the San Francisco Chronicle and the Boston Globe. I'm deliriously happily married to the writer Jeff Tamarkin (his book, Got A Revolution: The Turbulent Flight of Jefferson Airplane, was one of the top music books of the year) and we have a teenaged son.

The Kids' Family Tree book is filled with delightful projects for elementary grade children who are interested in learning about their family history. This book offers a refreshing take on Geneology, for both parents and children alike. My fourth grader and I especially loved creating the coat of arms. With its whimsical spin and bright pictures, Leavitt's book is also a thoughtful birthday gift for any grade level student. Highly recommended to add to the emergency birthday-present pile!

I bought several copies of this book to give out as gifts at a recent family reunion. There were some good ideas in the book. I particularly liked the ideas of how to display a family tree in different wasy besides always a tree shape.

This is a wonderful book to help children understand their family history. I use genealogy to teach social studies methods at a university, and this would help my students too. It's easy to understand, but comprehensive. Great book!

It is more detailed and harder for the age group that I had intended to use it for. The book arrived in good condition etc. It is hard to buy books online when you don't know what the inside looks like. It is a good book, just not what I wanted.

Bought this to use for my preschool class. It is better used for a higher age group then the 3-5 year olds I have in my class it would be more suitable for mid to higher elementary school grades.
