Book Description

Their very blood betrays them.

A disease passed to each new generation of descendants attracts vampires. Pieces of family history and the secrets to survival are lost as the lineage progresses. The Kindred Curse Anthology of prequels lead you back in time, revealing the root of a dynasty's plight and a beginning that ultimately transcends the family's end.

Consisting of five short stories, each subsequent book in this anthology is written as a prequel to the prior. The matriarch of the family, Anna Sprengel, survives a vampire poisoning. Her tainted blood is passed down to each new generation, morphing into deadly auto-immune diseases. However, no descendant can escape the magnetic pull they have toward vampires - and vampires have toward the family. Loosely based on the true story of the foundations of the Order of the Golden Dawn, Anna foresees the destruction of the world, and joins forces with a vampire in order to prevent the total loss of both races. But every member of the family in each generation must play their part. Constantly on the run from vampires, their instincts for self-preservation overcome even their kindred bonds. Anna is no longer around to ensure the prophecy is carried out by her family, but her vampire cohort, Xavier, is. Even if he can overcome the sensual pull toward Isabelle, fulfillment of the prophecy remains precarious as the future of both races is at stake.

4.0 out of 5 stars LOVED IT! November 13, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
There is a whole lota (is lota a word? if it wasn't it is now!) story packed into less than 75 pages in this first short story of the Kindred Curse Anthology. I loved it, plain and simple. The story never lets up from the first chapter to the very last page.

Isabelle and her mother are on the run. From vampires. After loosing her twin sister Gabriella who was in love with a vampire and her father to suicide, they don't stay in any place too long. Something is in Isabella's blood that makes her irresistible to the vampires. After arriving in Chattanooga, TN Isabella has a run in with four young vampires and her life is on the line, literally. After being rescued by Xavier, an elder vampire, her whole world will be turned upside down whether she likes it or not. They are both drawn to each other and Xavier will stop at nothing to loose her, even offering her her every wish. The one thing that Isabella wants more than anything is her sister Gabriella back. But can he give her the very thing that she desires?

Gleaming White is so well written that you will feel like you have read a whole novel by the time you reach the end. The ending was outstanding and left me hungering for more.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good short vamp story December 16, 2011
By Kristin
Format:Kindle Edition
Isabelle and her mother have never stayed in a place for too long. They are always on the run because of their disease which makes them irresistible to vampires. Their first night in a new town Isabelle gets caught up in an ancient vampire book in the library and ends up getting surrounded by a group of blood thirsty vampires looking for some fun on her way home. She blurts out "Hail the elder nearest, ruler of the night; Guard me and mine until the dawn's light" and Xavier shows up to protect her from the other vampires, but not without a price. He was the one that hid the summoning spell in the library for "the one meant to find it". He is convinced that they are meant to be together and demands that she stay the night with him for protection, but one night isn't enough for either of them. Her blood calls out to him just as much as he calls out to her.

For being such a short book it really hit all the points for me. You got a short quick background story on why Isabelle and her mother were on the run. A little bit of romance even though Isabelle didn't really return Xavier's passion. And then the climatic ending that leaves you wanting more. It was short, sweet and to the point.

Favorite part...
Isabelle doesn't want anything to do with Xavier and doesn't like that fact that not only can he read her thoughts but he can do so when he is not even with her.
"She needed to sit down. One glance at the bed caused her to look for anywhere else to sit. As soon as the thought came to her, a large armchair materialized behind her. She heard a low growl of pleasure in her head. It was his growl; he delighted in the fact he could provide for her even when he was not there."

5.0 out of 5 stars A Short, But Incredible Read November 9, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
Isabelle and her mother have been on the run ever since she can remember. A strange disease that is passed on through the blood to every new generation attracts vampires from far and wide - a fact that neither woman can deny.

Having lost her father and her twin sister to the very evil that stalks them night by night, Isabelle finds herself haunted by memories she can't escape. Her heart yearns to be reunited with the part of her that's missing, but she knows that it's impossible. Gabriella is dead and will remain that way for the rest of eternity.

Intrigued by a book she's found at the library, she loses track of time and finds herself surrounded by a pack of vampires who refuse to let her go easily as she tries to make it back home. Inadvertently invoking a spell, she summons forth an entity that must protect her from those around her. Yet she never imagined that her doing so would have dire consequences.

Having attracted the elder vampire's interest, Isabella realizes that her days are numbered. Her blood sings to his and Xavier is convinced that she is the one he's meant to be with. She soon finds herself falling under his spell. Unable to truly break free, she accepts the fact that certain sacrifices must be made. Even if it means losing the one thing that has come to mean the most to her in such a short time.

While this was a short novella, it read and felt as if it were a novel. Terra has such a way of telling the story that you get hooked into it from the very start. While it ends on a cliffhanger, I'm pretty sure that the next part in the series won't disappoint. She's that good of writer and I truly recommend this book.

Gleaming White (Kindred Curse Anthology, #1)
by Terra Harmony

Synopsis from Goodreads:

"Their very blood betrays them.

A disease passed to each new generation of descendants attracts vampires. Pieces of family history and the secrets to survival are lost as the lineage progresses. The Kindred Curse Anthology prequels lead you back in time, revealing the root of a dynasty's plight and a beginning that ultimately transcends the families end."

Gleaming White is a very short novella that reads like a full novel. Isabella is a young woman who has virtually been on the run for years with her mother following the death of her father and twin sister. There is a mystery behind the world building that keeps you reading to find out just what is really going on. I enjoyed the introduction to the characters and again the hint of mystery lingers in the construction of each. One evening Isabella is unable to make it to her lodging before the sun sets and the action begins. It is difficult to write about this story without giving too much away, so I will simply give my opinion of the read. I enjoyed it very much. I did not feel cheated in anyway by it being a short novella; in fact, I feel the story was well written and resolved with yet just a hint of a promise for more if these characters continue on with a new adventure. I enjoyed the writing style of the author very much and would definitely read more. I would recommend Gleaming White to anyone who is interested in a short read with a hint of mystery, a taste for a new world of vampires, and a touch of sensuality.

I received this book as a gift from the author with no remuneration other than my enjoyment of the read with a request for my honest opinion.
