Book Description

All Gavin Kinshield really wants is the letter written 200 years ago by his ancestor, champion to King Arek--a letter he must earn by tracking down a thief. But when Gavin saves a woman's life, what should have been a simple task draws him face-to-face with his nightmarish past... and the truth of King Arek's demise.

As he unravels the mystery surrounding King Arek's mysterious disappearance, Gavin's strongest convictions are tested by his greatest fears. He begins a journey of self-discovery and self-acceptance, and along the way, discovers that making difficult choices isn't nearly as painful as accepting their consequences.

The Kinshield Saga: The Complete Series contains four complete novels:
Book 1: The Kinshield Legacy
Book 2: The Wayfarer King
Book 3: Well of the Damned
Book 4: Kinshield's Redemption

Also includes the prequel novella Sole Sacrifice.

These books were a joy to read. A really, really good story and well written. I would highly recommend this series to anybody who enjoys a well told tale but especially to fans of fantasy. Get it, read it - you will be glad you did! AND don't miss the novella Sole Sacrifice - it's a great quick read about a supporting character and will give extra understanding and enjoyment to the series.

Warning: Some spoiler alerts!*****************************************

I bought this series based on a recommendation. Unfortunately, I was trying to skim as fast as I could to try to get the jist of the Kinshield Saga's conclusion after reading Book 1. I should have just stopped reading at Book 1 of the series.

Pros: The entire collection including the side story of Sole Sacrifice (about Sithral Tyr's past) is in one set. Every once in a while there are some good ideas about the storyline and interesting characters.

Chapters are very "choppy", especially in Book 1. Literally one small thing happens and then the author starts writng another chapter with different characters in them. Then, K.C. May jumps back to finish off the other chapter, etc. etc.

The supposedly intelligent characters do such STUPID things that I can't stand it. For example, Gavin Kinshield keeps complaining that he has no money. He had won a big box of gemstones from the evil wizard Ravenkind. Instead of taking some gems with him, he and his friends magically lock up the door of the study and they leave all the gemstones in there. I guess they don't think that the evil wizard Ravenkind can knock down a wall or possibly go through a window to get the gemstones back. In addition, they keep re-iterating how the wizard was strong and magically devious and escaped five guards; But yet everyone only gets only 1-2 guards to protect entire families of Gavin's relatives. No surprise, the guards get slaughtered or captured over and over again.

Very confusing Kho bent vs. Zhi bent along with yellow and green and blue realms vs. Elyle realms and Nal Disi realms along with the ability to go backwards in time among all of these realms.

Totally not worth reading if it wasn't for the interesting characters.

4.0 out of 5 stars Solidly written and enjoyable January 14, 2015
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
When reviewing books I ask myself a few questions; was it enjoyable to read, where the characters realistic and consistent, was the world created described well written and finally where there elements I disliked?

I did enjoy all 4 books in this series.

The main character was likeable in his roguish and rough matter and although he clearly had flaws they didn't detract from him like some books do.

The world and other characters written into it helped you to share in the authors vision but also allowed you to use your own imagination.

I'll also add that the ebbs and flows of the storyline were well timed and although there are constantly things happening you do have time to catch your breath while reading.
The storyline isn't complex or convoluted with multiple plot devices as seems to be the trend at the moment which is refreshing; this does not detract from the readers enjoyment.

My early concern on finishing the first book was how the author could follow it up and retain my interest; this however proven no issue.

Well written and worth reading for anyone who enjoys fantasy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good character growth November 26, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
Another good series and this one had not only good character development, but some growth as well. The growth of the main character, was I thought exceptionally well done, as he had to deal with his new found status. While I feel he never comes to fully accept his new status, that might be the more realistic approach. I do enjoy good character growth, but not the rags to riches and all is well type is a bit much. It was good to read of a hero who knew how he should feel and act, but just struggles with it.
The story in the first book really had me hooked. The second story, was not as good as the first and the third story, just seemed to drag out. It still had a good twists and turns, but it almost felt like the story was forced out of the author and I struggled to finish the last book. But still a good book is hard to find and I would recommend this series, the price of the complete series is worth the cost considering how much three books can cost..

5.0 out of 5 stars Compelling July 30, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Once again I have found an author who is able to grab and hold my interest, anticipating the next adventure. This whole series has been enlightening and have stretched the imagination. While I have read a good deal of Science Fiction many of the images and concepts introduced in this series are new to me and I have found them interesting and entertaining. I highly recommend the complete series as, once you read the first book you will want to continue. Have fun.
