More About the Author

Sarah Billington is an Australian writer and editor who likes to write stories with love, laughs, suspense and zombies. Sometimes all in the same story. Her favouritest thing to write about are those horrendously awkward moments that come with being a teenager. Or a human being. Sarah was extremely accident-prone and klutzy as a kid and teen, so her cup runneth over with experiences of horrendously awkward moments to draw from in her writing. Thankfully, she has grown out of her klutziness. Mostly. She is, however, still an embarrassment.

She loves a variety of random things, which include doggies (hers as well as yours), Swing Dancing, Ice Hockey, Roller Derby and she is a bit obsessive about paranormal investigation shows and channel E!.

She also runs an editing and cover design business, Billington Media.

I highly enjoyed this book and loved reading about all that Poppy goes through.
PamM
He is nice and seems to sincerely like Poppy, but there is always the question of if he really likes her or just her song.
Brandi's Book Musings
The pace was a bit slow at the beginning, but I found myself interested in the story regardless.

The Kiss Off kind of reminds me of Taylor Swift. Not necessarily the whole plot, but just in the sense that Poppy writes songs about her love life - namely the bad things about her love life - and she's very, very open about it. Or, at least, in her songs, she is.

Poppy's crazy, wild, fun, but she also falls for guys a little too quickly, and bruises a little to hard. Her way of dealing with things is via songs. She writes songs about her heartbreak, and posts them on YouTube. Her latest song, The Kiss Of, is a huge hit, scoring thousands of views and fans and admirers, and seemingly overnight Poppy becomes a YouTube sensation. And the attention of the Academy of Lies, a band group. Soon, she's writing more lyrics, recognized and called out on the street, and dating Ty, a member of the Academy of Lies.

The Kiss Off is a very fast-paced, quirky story. The author quite accurately portrays teenagers, and Poppy's narrative was hilarious and fun to read. It also really shows how big of an impact social media and the internet can have on us now, and has that whole `moral of the story' thing going on not necessarily forbidding one against things like sexting and social media, but more like it's warning them about the after-effects. Poppy's tale seems almost cautionary and the story to teach-ish at times, though, which I feel really breaks up the whole fun and quirky atmosphere.

I would've liked to see more of Poppy and her friends just doing the regular things - gossiping, hanging out, at school, etc - instead of reading about Poppy obsessing over her crush(es), which was what was going on in the book the majority of the time. I kind of liked Mads's character - equally quirky, outgoing, and fun, but she didn't get as much page time as I had hoped.

This is the first time I have heard of this author, I was really impressed. I can't wait to see what else happens to these characters. I especially want to see more of Mads and Van. Would love to have the complete song lyrics so I can sing the complete song in my head. I got this book free on Amazon, will gladly pay for the next one.

"Goodbye,
You didn't say why,
but I am not gonna cry
Cos baby this is your Kiss Off.
Goodbye,
You cheated on me,
But I'll get even you see,
I am telling you to just Kiss Off "

Poppy yes that is her name is your average teenager but when her boyfriend breaks up with her and starts dating her friend Poppy decides to take revenge by writing and singing a song about it-Kiss off.It turns out that she becomes an overnight YouTube sensation and this local band asks to make her song their one.

Bonus points --the lead singer is a hot guy that Poppy met by accident while going home from school. After the song goes viral and she catapults the local band to stardom everything starts to become overwhelming. Will she give this guy a chance or will she return to her boyfriend when she finds out he still has feelings for her ....??

PS : Sarah did a wonderful job in creating a make-believe 'Hollywood' world surrounding Poppy, Tyler, and their friends. It's easy to envision the environment she created as well as taking into account that while this is just a story, this sort of thing happens often in the real world. I'm officially a fan of Sarah's and look forward to reading more of her work soon. The Kiss Off is a DEFINITE MUST READ !!

I loved The Kiss Off! It was such a fun YA novel. You were cheering for Poppy as she was trying to figure out how to handle what life through at her. Can't wait to see where the Kiss Off 2 will take her.

A very good rendition of teenage angst that may not fit everyone, but still had me laughing and at other times worrying about my daughter in the future. Poppy had a unique way of getting her anger across and in a very public way that eventually leads her to Ty...Ty who comes across sweet even as his life spirals into fame and all that comes with it. With a lot of confusion on Poppy's part (and she just 16 so things will continue to fluctuate and evolve as she gets older) she finds herself caught between two boys and it takes until the end of this first book for you to learn who she chooses. It was a fun read and a bit nostalgic to go back to those years remembering all those trials as a teenager....makes me glad I am passed THAT!
