Product Description

Platform: PlayStation 4

In a scenario drawn from the film, The LEGO Movie Videogame puts LEGO kids into the role of Emmet, an ordinary, rules-following, perfectly average LEGO minifigure who is mistakenly identified as the most extraordinary person and the key to saving the world. Players guide him as he is drafted into a fellowship of strangers on an epic quest to stop an evil tyrant, a journey for which Emmet is hopelessly and hilariously underprepared.

5.0 out of 5 stars Everything is awesome! February 8, 2014
Platform for Display:PlayStation 4
The LEGO Movie Videogame does, in every way, live up to the potential shown in the previous LEGO games. You have all the same silliness, the same kinds of puzzles, and so, so many things to unlock. So, basically, if you like the previous LEGO games, and want more of the same, this is for you.

The plot is, as near as I can tell, the same as in the movie. There’s a world of LEGO that’s inhabited by Emmet, a normal, ordinary guy who finds out that he’s “the Special”, and goes on a quest to save the world from the evil Lord Business. Along the way, he meets the likes of Batman, Abraham Lincoln, and every recent Morgan Freeman character rolled into one, and learns that sometimes building outside the instructions is ok. As a special added bonus, all the characters are voiced by the actors from the movie, so you get Morgan Freeman, Will Farrell, Liam Neeson, etc.

And…that’s about it. You’ll beat the main game with about 35% of the actual game completed, and spend the rest of your life unlocking items and characters. Not that that’s a bad thing. You’ll probably also have a lot of fun, because, come on, LEGO video games are, lately, quite awesome. Oh, and I hope you don’t mind the “Everything is Awesome!” song from the movie because it’s going to be your new best friend in this game.

This is an excellent video game for anyone from about five years old on up. I’m forty-one and I still enjoy it, as well as the other LEGO games. The fact that I’m quite into LEGO, and have been since I was a kid, helps in this. But regardless. It’s a fun game, and I highly recommend it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Bittersweet February 23, 2014
Platform for Display:PlayStation 4
I bought 'The LEGO Movie Videogame' so my daughter & I had something we could both play together. Out of the gate, I was nearly ready to give this a 5-star review, since we were both having a blast....but a few hours in, little glitches popped up here & there (always in the same exact spots in the game), often freezing things up. I checked some online forums to see if it was my problem only, but apparently there are other people who have experienced the same thing(s). Even more disheartening, many of the comments I read were posted when it was first released, so it looks like no one at Warner Home Video has been in a hurry to rectify the matter with game patches & what-not. Such a shame & disappointment, because when this game is on, it's ON.....however, having to avoid certain spots and/or side missions for fear of the game melting down is unacceptable. I guess for those reasons, I should give it one or two stars at most, but my daughter still enjoys it in spite of the glitches, so I'll give it a "soft" 3 stars. If the problems ever get rectified, I'll be glad to edit this review & modify my rating....but for the time being, buy this with caution.....

edit: the glitches aren't as frequent as they used to be, but when they DO happen, i've noticed it's always in 2-player mode. so, if you only play solo, then you might be in the clear...

3.0 out of 5 stars good game, just really glitchy March 26, 2014

Fun: 3.0 out of 5 stars
Probly as good or better than the other Lego games (star wars) that I've played, although I constantly was wishing I had a light saber or jetpack through the whole thing. Biggest negative was the glitches. I'd get to a point where I can't go any further, so I'd smash everything around our look around for a trigger and then give up and look up the walk through on YouTube. I'd find that the game just didn't trigger the needed event or whatever... So then I'd have to back out to the main menu and restart and try again. Seriously happened like every level.

*** I gotta edit to add... Wow, glitches twice in the same level... Within minutes... Unacceptable. It'll take me to then end of the year to beat the game at this rate. Because of this, I'd be tempted to give one star, but I'm gonna change to two stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Everything is awesome ... ! March 3, 2014
Platform for Display:PlayStation 4|Verified Purchase
The LEGO game franchise has another winner.

The game follows the movie fairly closely, and you are rewarded with hidden cut-scenes if you complete some of the more difficult challenges. There are enough hidden items and Easter Eggs embedded in the game to give it a very, very high replay value, e.g., Golden Plans.

They did a nice job of differentiating the various characters' abilities that you will want to play it again once you have unlocked more characters.

The graphics are excellent even on my HDMI, large flatscreen 1080i TV, and the sound is actually pretty good.

Better yet, like the movie, the game has multiple levels of sophistication and dialogue that will be fun for everyone.

I highly recommend this product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Lego game so far February 8, 2014
By MBork

Love this game - been playing it with my 8 year old daughter and we can't put it down. Great story, fabulous levels that are all very imaginative and different - with some cool chase scenes included. Plus loving how everything this time is built out of legos - everything.

5.0 out of 5 stars Can a LEGO video game be epic? July 19, 2014
Platform for Display:PlayStation 4
First of all, I didn't buy this game personally, nor would I have. I have probably seen this game walking in an electronics shop many a time, and never once paid attention to it. It looks cheesy, and I've seen many of this game type before, wasted money on many of these games, and swore never to buy them again. So the grandparent's bought this game for my kids. And holy smokes. This game has everything a great video game should have, action, plot, humor, great graphics, and even music. It's just made for kids, and really keeps them captivated. This game challenges the paradigm. So to answer my question, can a LEGO video game be epic? The answer is yes.

1.0 out of 5 stars Got a very disappointed kid around here
Not sure if it's just a faulty copy, but the game won't save progress. Also, sometimes characters get stuck in the air and can't move, so you have to restart a level. Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars I find the LEGO games to be quite boring with zero substance
My son loves the game. Frankly, I find the LEGO games to be quite boring with zero substance. This is a kiddo's game and that is enough said.
