I had no idea a woman ever judged boxing matching. Carol judged the greats. As a lover of biographies, I really thought this told an interesting, inspirational story. Carol is still around today and Im sure gets so much joy for being able to open the path for women in the industry. I recommend this for anyone who likes biographies or loves to read about women who overcome incredible obstacles, literal road blocks, to rebuild and redefine themselves and be the FIRST to do do something. WOW!!

Carol Polis delivers a knockout punch!!
What I was expecting to gain was some insight on the male dominated world of professional boxing from a female perspective...I truly got more than I bargained for. Carol takes you through her start and rise as the first licensed female professional boxing judge in the world, which was no small feat in the era of gender barriers. She has great behind the scene stories of life in the boxing world that any boxing fan would cherish to read and learn about. What I didn't expect was what Carol had to endure to be a fantastic mother, grandmother and successful boxing judge.

Fighter [fahy-ter]: a person with the will, courage, determination, ability, or disposition to fight, struggle, resist, etc.

"And winner by unanimous decision...Carol B. Polis"

What a great book - Carol has had a fascinating life - still does as far as I'm concerned. The book is well written and takes us to a time when Boxing was king. I remember when the whole world stopped to see a champion fight on TV - and Carol was a judge at some of these historic bouts. She knows 'em all - including most of the greats. The book flows well and I thoroughly enjoyed it!

I have to say I truly admire Carol for being the first woman in the boxing world. Her life story could not be more interesting and so is this book. It is Written with humor, sarcasm, and passion. Learning woman's perspective on the men's boxing world was intriguing. Carol does not leave anything on the table, and is honest and true to herself. This book is a must biographical read for anybody, but especially for women who want to be inspired.

I personally know Carol and this book was a pleasure to read. I took it with me - the Kindle edition - on my iPad for along trip to Brazil. I found it cleverly written, concise and honest. I will be visiting Carol in December over Christmas - haven't seen her in over 20 years.

I had the pleasure of meeting Carol recently and was amazed at the vibrancy and energy of this incredible woman. I immediately purchased the book and couldn't put it down! She is a true pioneer! I also understand she does speaking engagements to tell her fascinating story.

I ordered this book because the author is an old friend of mine. She is the first female boxing judge in the USA and the world. The book was very good. I learned quite a bit about boxing from it. I also enjoyed reading about Carol's during the years before I met her.

I can't say enough about this book. I recommend it for both men and women. Don't let the pink cover deter you.

It is one of those books you pick up and cannot put down
