*Y: The Last Man, Deluxe edition, Vol 2*

This high-quality, full-sized, hardcover collects the third and fourth volumes of the 10-volume series. For collectors, these 'deluxe' editions are certainly worth waiting for, and at about the same price as buying both TBPs, there is very little to discourage you here. Removable dust covers, larger format, high-quality pages, and a little extra artwork are nice, but throw in the little bonus that each of these editions has at the end (the written script for one of the episodes in this one) and you've got a real treat for "Y" enthusiasts. Personally, I'm glad I waited on this series for the release of these deluxe editions.

Deluxe edition volume 2 starts out with One Small Step, where Yorick, Dr. Mann, and Agent 355 learn about possible male survivors on the International Space Station that are about to crash land in the Mid-West. This story arc introduces a couple of new characters, including a sharp-shooting Russian that promises to play a role in future volumes, and strengthens the role of Alter, the Israeli special ops commander that has some seriously big plans for Yorick. "One Small Step" maintains the same 'on-the-run' feel that the series started with, and lives up to readers' expectations. [5-stars]

The second story arc in this volume is "Comedy and Tragedy", where we follow a troupe of actors trying to make their mark on the new world by putting on a play about (You guessed it!) the last man on the planet. This story didn't do too much for me personally, but had its moments.

After reading a lot of the Invincible series, this series was recommended to me. I was instantly drawn in. The reason I reviewed the second was to make the point that the first may have been amazing, but the level of production doesn't drop at ALL. I finished the first three in a weekend, and am waiting on the fourth to get to my door.

Once you start with the "Y:The last man" graphic novel, you can't stop. Therefore this second book is a more than needed step in this thrilling epic adventure. I had bought the first book in one of my trips and, after 1h, I knew I had to go to Amazon to buy (urgently) the rest of the novel. Highly recommended.

I try to read just about every graphic novel out there... but this series sets the bar above so much higher than the rest! First off, the story is incredible... a world dominated by females simply because there are no males left alive, except one. To put this simply, the world is falling apart at the seems, and factions of women are fighting each other for power and control. There are parts of this book that will literally leave the reader (at least it did for me) with their jaw down... it has images that feels like a machine pressed stamped it in your head). All of the human elements of humor, romance, mystery, violence, death, destruction, power, greed, and compassion are brought forth brilliantly.

Put simply, I loved this book and had no real intention of classifying it as one of the best until after I read it!!! I simply couldn't get enough of this series, so I purchased the next one immediately and continued my journey in the lonely existance of thinking, what would it be like to be the last guy left in a world that has gone completely nuts!!! GREAT BOOK and a MUST HAVE in any graphic novel collection!

I seriously hope this gets made into a film someday because its story of humanity should resonate through every living person.

The book is amazing. Its starting to boter me that I didn't read this when it was originally released. Yorick and his motley crew are in it deep again and its so hard to see a way out of some of the situations they find themselves. Shockers abound. True shocks. Great stuff!

If you're even considering getting into "Y the Last Man" by way of these deluxe edition, I'm going to assume you know a little something about the series. If you want my opinion, it's some of the best non-superhero comic work I've ever read and this volume of the series deals with a wide range of story lines from Yorick's adventure to save the human race. They're not all on equal ground but will most assuredly entertain readers of the book.
My main gripe with this product is the quality of this so called deluxe edition. Most deluxe edition books are released with an almost magazine like page feel to them albeit with a much thicker and sturdier paper stock. "Y" however forgoes this in favor of a more "newspaper" feeling paper that leaves a lot to be desired. This compounded with the frequent cases of ink being smeared onto their opposite pages makes me wish DC hadn't lost their heads and stayed with a formula that had already worked so well. Having said that, I still think this is the way to own the series and despite the major gripes I have with the book's quality, the actual comic is just too good to pass up.

Another great entry into a great series of graphic novels. Yet again this series continues to baffle and entertain with with great art and storytelling. It continues to bring up the big issues in society all the while entertaining in a way that i have only seen in this series.
