Book Description

Seeing is believing, so they say.  So does not seeing, apparently, because it was only when Lauren didn't see the batty old woman standing in front of her any more that she finally began to believe that maybe, just maybe, ghosts and witches and warlocks did exist.  The fact that she was one of them was the bit she had real trouble with.  That, and could warlocks really be that good looking without a little..ahem...magical assistance?

Lauren Rutherford needs to stop focussing all of her attention on Daniel, the sexy warlock, blackmailed by her long-dead ancestor Agnes into helping out, and focus on learning her craft, because that was the only thing between her and a one way ticket to a very hot place. Hell that is, not Hawaii.

As the last descendant of a long line of witches, Lauren is the victim of a four hundred year old curse.  Her life depends on her surviving a challenge set down by three damned souls, a challenge that will take her to hell and back. Literally. And Satan doesn't do tea and scones!

Note from the author - This book is entirely a work of fiction.  There are no such thing as witches or demons and, to the author's knowledge, ghosts don't exist either.  Or do they...?

5.0 out of 5 stars Rats, Cats, and Spiders Oh My!!! September 23, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I absolutely love this book, it has everything in it that I ever look for in a book which is humor, romance, and one sex on legs paranormal man!!! haha hey nobody can blame me I am a woman haha. I am glad I was able to get my hands on this book seeing that it was rainy day today and it brought me tons of laughter on this dreary day. Oh my god I about pissed my self a few times from laughing so hard haha. Sharon has certainly developed a fantastic story with a great plot and great characters.

I adore Lauren since chapter one! She is a fun loving character that you connect to easily from the start when you read about Mr. Bad Luck harassing her at the beginning. Do not worry Lauren you are not the first person to think your late for your job on a holiday, I have done it too! Then there is Agnes who come on who doesn't love that fouled mouth 400 year old ghost of a woman haha. Natalia I connected to instantly cause I am very much like her, I love football (for Americans I mean soccer), I stay up late, and I am very good at protecting people that I love (guess you could say I do act like a familiar), also I do have a foul mouth haha. Then of course I can not for get about the sexy man Daniel who is lets faces it Sex on legs as Lauren put it hahahahaha. Oh man, Sharon has defiantly developed some fantastic characters that just made the plot even better.

The plot it self is very well formed it just has the right amount of conflict in it, you have the main problem and then the main character has smaller conflicts thrown in to mix with the main problem that she faces. It has some turns that you don't even see coming until it smacks you right upside the head and it is kind of an off set and sometimes provides a nice distraction for the character and the read for a few seconds.

5.0 out of 5 stars a must read summer story July 24, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I found a great new author. Just when I was looking for something new to catch my attention, along came Sharon Karaa. This is a great story of losing family and creating a new one, new love and great relationships. The characters pull you right into their world. Great descriptions of the characters make them come alive. I could picture each one. The scenes came alive with each word and they painted a clear picture of each new place. Sharon has areal gift for words. My favorite character is Agnes, a spunky 400 year old ghost, who takes care of everyone. Then there is the main character Lauren who matures as the story goes on. She has lived through a great tragedy but instead of hiding from the world she takes it on and battles evil and wins.
If you are looking for a good summer book, the look no further. I can't wait for the second book to come out in the fall.

5.0 out of 5 stars Northern Witches 1 July 26, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I really enjoyed this. I like the funny, sexy, hot, lighthearted books like this. It gives you something more than just reading a romance. It can be funny and you gotta have a sense of humor in life especially in dire circumstances like this. The characters were great! LOL. 400 year old Grandma was a hoot. She made me laugh the most. The things that came out her mouth were so funny. Mostly profanity but thats ok and sometimes that is the best thing ever! I did feel bad for Jacks brother Simon I think that was his name. He seemed like a really sweet genuinely good guy who liked her. He wasn't meant for her though but Daniel was. Can't wait for the next book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Non-stop Laughter and Spice! October 28, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Just in time for Halloween, we have a perfect dose of adventure, romance and a supernatural adventure to indulge on. So hide your candy and turn off the porch-light to detour the trick-or-treaters and grab this book and be prepared to laugh and swoon!
Oh, where to begin? Not sure where to start on why I loved this book so much, but what I can easily divulge is that this was a non-stop, hilarious and adventurous read!
Every character has their own lovable quirks and just about jump right off the page with such brilliant personalities. The author has a wonderful sense of humor and it shines throughout the plot. Lauren is our main character and she lives a happily, normal life until one day her hilarious, dirty-mouthed, four-hundred year old grandmother in the form of a spirit, Agnes, comes out of nowhere to be the bearer of horrifying news . . . Lauren is a witch and her help is very much needed as the families curse needs to be ended. I’ll let Agnes tell you all the trouble she’s in, worth the reading and laughs!
Now that Lauren is learning to cope with her roots and the practice that goes along with it, her life has completely changed in the blink of an eye. She has; a tiny, cursing familiar; a swoon-worthy, long-legged guardian named Daniel; and a best friend who happily sticks with her through the thick of this interesting turn in her life. On top of all the laughs I had, there were many a times when Daniel had me wishing I were the one in the page getting his attention. Him and Lauren together once she got over the awkwardness of the situation, definitely was spicy! Days after reading this, it has still stuck with me and I am definitely telling all my friends about this! I hope to see more of these characters again one day, and especially more Agnes—that old spirit never gives a dull moment!!

Pretty good, a little predictable. But author, please note Lilith was only a demon because of the patriarchy that said so. Read more

I didn't care for this book at all, and didn't find it funny. Perhaps it's because I'm a Yank; I don't "get" British comedy very well.

More About the Author

Sharon Karaa is a mass of contradictions but two facets of her character have always battled for supremacy; her logical self (let's call him Frank) and her artistic side (lets her call Misty).

Until recently, Frank won every battle, forcing Sharon into a life based on most probable outcome and, to give him his credit, it has led to a fairly comfortable if rather boring life so far.

Then Misty took up kick boxing and gave Frank a good kick in the goodies.

Sharon lives with her husband in a little village north of Newcastle upon Tyne, England. She doesn't have a cat.
