The book starts off as Frank Morgan getting jailed because of a look alike that is an outlaw. He breaks out of jail and starts looking for the lookalike outlaw. He rides into the town of Chance to resupply and to verify his identity. He is told the lookalike has been raiding towns in the area and takes the job of deputy of Chance. He gets into a confrontation with a rancher from the area and settles it in his way. The outlaw raids the town and kidnaps some women, one of which Frank is fond of. Then "The Last Gunfighter" goes to rescue the women then to settle the score with the lookalike and his followers.

I've read this book two times and enjoyed it both times. I find that I enjoy the casual, relaxed approach the Johnstones
use in creating their stories and characters, while keeping the story line exciting.

2 stars for the plot. Men raping a 14 year old boy was not necessary in the story. The writer waited to the last to put that part in.

As all these books, they are written where the good guy always wins. This is what I, personally, like to read as many of us do. We have enough of 'reality' in everyday life that we don't need our 'hero's' getting the worst of it. It is reminiscent of the 50-early 60's in westerns where the 'white hates' always beat the 'black hats'.
Thank you

Wow! I'm reading this one right now and all I can say it is fast moving and as exciting as the other books in this series. Can't hardly put it down to find out what is next. You'll really enjoy this book.

told the story of the brutality of man and how cruel even women can be. Unfortunately even in our society today this happens. I don,t feel our judicial system prosecutes man for their crimes. maybe vengeance is justified.

This was an extremely poorly written book. What a waste of time and money not withstanding effort. If this is the best Johnstone can do then I would suggest not writing anymore.
