Review

The whole album feels like a letter from an old friend. --Music Row Magazine

No secular artist blends the spiritual and the physical as movingly, or as profoundly, as Dalton. --Alanna Nash: Entertainment Weekly, USA Weekend, Reader's Digest, Amazon.com

Product Description

"The Last Wild Place" is country diva Lacy J. Dalton's first move back to her singer-songwriter roots since leaving Nashville, and showcases Lacy’s remarkable voice and writing talents at their finest. This heartfelt music is acoustic-based Folk/Americana and ranges from the quiet introspective to the rollicking good time.

The Last Wild Place Anthology
Have enjoyed hearing the entire album, but purchased this CD because I remembered one of the songs from 13 years ago: She Could Run. I was asleep and had the TV on, when Lacy J. Dalton was on one of the late night talk shows. The refrain from this song stuck in my mind for all of these years: "she could run, run, run".

When I saw that the balance of the CD followed the same theme, it's one that I had to have; and have enjoyed it since I received it. I generally listen to country, but this has a blend of country and folk that mixes well. Another song that is great for her voice and style is "Black Coffee". Am sure it's been out by many others, but this is a great version!

"you will find it is just the beginning." This is how she ends the song, "Listen to the Wind." This is a wonderful collection of Lacy J. Dalton's songs, which I've just recently discovered. True voice, wonderful music. She speaks to me, to all of us.

Normally I don't like singers re-recording their hit singles (especially more than 20 years later) but "Black Coffee", "16th Avenue", "Crazy Blue Eyes", "Takin' It Easy" and "Everyone Makes Mistakes" on this CD are mellower, a little bit slower and to my ears a whole lot better.

"Listen to the Wind" is just wonderful, a great lead-in to a beautiful album, there isn't a bad track on the whole CD.

At 60 years of age when she recorded this CD, gone is some of the grit from her voice, but it still is distinctively Lacy J Dalton.

I own 5 of Lacy J Dalton's CDs and I think this is the one that I will be playing the most.

Rediscovered Lacy J after many years

I had heard Lacy Dalton many years ago, but had not heard any of her songs played for years. I remembered a state fair video of her and Johnny Lee and decided to see what she had listed with Amazon.I played the tracts from the album and loved the song lyrics that were perfect for her voice.I wished I had looked her up years ago.I thought album was much better than content of greatest hits.

I bought this cd because I was looking for one song - 16th Avenue. I looked over all Lacy's Cd's that contained that song and chose this one at random simply because I liked the names of the songs. Boy did I make the right choice! I recieved this CD today and I'm on the 4th listening! Her voice, the songs, the music - they're all unique and moving. She and her songs sound almost more folk than country but this CD is absolutely wonderful. And for anyone who has a son you MUST listen to Little Boy Blue about her son. I'm now a Lacy fan and am looking for more CD's in this venue!

The pinacle of a fabulous career (so far). This lady is always superb but "The Last Wild Place" is in a world of its own. It is truly beyond my ability to describe. I love it.

Some of her best songs are on this CD. Nobody can sing "The Wanderers" like she does. Excellent song selections!
