The League is crass, juvenile, and all-around appalling--and its fans wouldn't want it any other way. The third season of this sitcom about the generally horrible members of a fantasy football league starts with Jenny (Katie Aselton) using dog-training techniques on her husband Kevin (Stephen Rannazzisi), only to discover that Kevin's best friend Pete (Mark Duplass, Your Sister's Sister) has been training him for years. Ruxin (Nick Kroll) hires an au pair so he'll have material for sexual fantasies, while Taco (Jonathan Lajoie) helps the rest of the gang prank the ever-pathetic Andre (Paul Scheer) by letting a movie crew shoot porn in his condo. Everyone lies, cheats, and extorts if it will give them a competitive advantage. Along the way, there's some stale satire about online dating and social media, as well as lots and lots and lots of gags about masturbation and homophobia--if you took a drink every time someone referred to male genitalia, you would be either dead or in rehab by the end of the season. The in-jokes and anti-political correctness, which felt free-wheeling and gleeful in previous seasons, are starting to feel a bit forced; but there are still moments of lurid giddiness, such as when Andre's visiting sister (guest star Sarah Silverman) uses eating sorbet as an opportunity to teach the arts of oral pleasure on women. Other guest stars include Jeff Goldblum as Ruxin's dad, Eliza Dushku as a self-defense instructor, and Seth Rogen as a porn director. In what may be an attempt to leaven the overall trashiness, there are some sweeter storylines woven through the season, such as Kevin trying to convince Jenny to have another child. All in all, fans of the previous seasons will no doubt find much to enjoy, though newcomers might be better served by going back to the stronger second season. Most of the episodes have extended versions, and bonus features include deleted scenes, alternate scenes, and the obligatory gag reel. --Bret Fetzer

Product Description

Unsportsmanlike conduct takes on a whole new meaning in the hilarious, smack-talking fantasy football comedy, The League. With special guest stars Seth Rogen, Jeff Goldblum, Sarah Silverman and Eliza Dushku, Season Three kicks off as Kevin and Jenny have a run-in with a local drug dealer, and Pete regrets learning a new sexual position. Ruxin hires a hot new au pair, but does Taco have his eyes on her end zone? It's time to trade up to special never-before-seen extended episodes and outrageously unrated bonus features. The race to the playoffs is on.but who wins the Shiva, and who gets the dreaded Sacko?

I don't know what these others are complaining about. The show still has every episode pertaining to a football agenda. To me this season went the furthest with the pranks and jokes. I watch this OVER and OVER again due to the funniest episodes are all in this season. Also has most cameos in this season. If there is one to buy it is this one.

4.0 out of 5 stars Terrific Show November 22, 2012
Format:Blu-ray
This hilarious series brings a lot of big names to the small screen including two of my favorites, Sarah Silverman and Jeff Goldblum. I honestly am not a big sports fan and if my husband wasn't a football buff, I probably wouldn't have watched this series. But you don't need to love football to appreciate the show. You just need to know someone who does and you'll be able to relate to the hilarious escapees of this obsessed football league. There is a lot of football agenda that might be lost of those who know nothing about the game, but there is also witty dialogue and fun moments anyone can enjoy. For those who are football fans, you'll love the fantasy football and talk of lineups. Its a realistic but humorous take on the sports world for fans.

This show is just freakin' hilarious! The interaction and relationship between all the characters will make you laugh out loud! You don't have to be into football, online football leagues, or a man to appreciate the humor this show has to offer. You could actually know nothing about football and still laugh your butt off!

5.0 out of 5 stars best league yet March 14, 2012
Format:Amazon Instant Video|Amazon Verified Purchase
this is the third season and i think the best for the league a tv series about fantasy football which concentrates more on the male friends relationships rather than drab statistics. The humor this season is hilarius as ruxin(nick kroll) is the central character throughout the season. Nick Kroll hopefully will be finally recognized as a true comedic talent (in addition to playing Ruxin, he also does the voice for Stu in another funny animated series on HBO known as "the life and times of Tim" and played an aging baby in "Childrens Hospital" on adult swim)..the interplay and jousting, male putdowns of sexual veracity, and verbal counterattacks is brilliant. Mark Duplass as pete, Paul Sheer as the gaptooth plastic surgeon, steven ranazizi as a loser lawyer(kevin) with a brilliant fantasy football wife played by katie aselton and Taco (played by jon lajoie) round out the great ensemble. don't forget Ruxins brother, Rafi (jason mantzoukas) who has a bigger, more creepy role this year. If you are a fan of the first two years go out and get this third year, you won't be sorry.

1.0 out of 5 stars $3 per episode?
That price is ridiculous. There is not much more to say. $2.99 for one episode of a television series? $3 for a movie is one thing, $3 for one episode of a tv series? Read more
