It's Take Your Kid To Work Day at Arthur's school, and kids join Arthur in a variety of work-related activities that teach reading, math, spelling and geography. In one activity, children help Buster complete newspaper headlines by choosing words that rhyme or have opposite meanings. Children also deliver cars across the country using clues like "move to a space that has farm land." In another activity, kids have to make sure the items on trays are identical to help Arthur get ready for a party. There's also a second CD with some printable, away-from-the-computer activities. The program keeps detailed records of kids' progress and automatically adjusts the challenge level according to children's responses. While the activities are pretty much standard fare and become repetitive rather quickly, there are plenty to choose from. This new edition also comes with arcade games that serve as a reward after the activities are completed.

Arthur's Second Grade is a fun, challenging CD for 1st and 2nd Grade Children. Auto leveling (which challenges the child upon completion of a section of the CD), options to turn on and off the printer and background music, as well as suprises and rewards along the way make the CD experience interesting, stimulating and educational. My only complaint would be that the child's reading skills sections are uneven: sometimes too challenging, while in other places too easy, and that some math techniques could be more clearly explained. However, this CD is well worth the money and should provide hours of educational fun for your child.
