I highly recommend this to anyone into the Avatar Series, or to anyone that just likes music of all kinds in general.
Noel Turner
This soundtrack is amazing, I'd want it even if I never watched the show (which is probably the best cartoon on tv at the moment and one of the best series ever).
James Hernandez
The effort and focus on creating a quality score to bring out the show's emotion and character is part of what makes The Legend of Korra so incredible.

I must say I have been waiting for years for The Avatar series to come out with a soundtrack. I am still hoping that happens. The Legend of Korra came out with one of the best series soundtracks for a cartoon. I pre-ordered it and it came early. I haven't stopped it yet. This is the most touching and soothing soundtrack I own. I recommend it to any instrumental lover and series fan out there. They didn't skip one track through the whole first book. It's all there.

Avatar: The Last Airbender is a franchise that has, in my opinion, been one of the most overlooked entertainment gems in recent history, loved by fans, but to those outside of the fandom whose only introduction was the poorly adapted live action film, remains off-the-radar.

Perhaps that is why the release of ancillary media surrounding it, like the Legend of Korra Book 1 score, has taken this long to be released. But thankfully, now we have it.

Regardless, the music itself is worthy of any quality, big-budget fantasy epic put to film, let alone something made for television. One could easily be forgiven for mistaking it as a film score, because aside from commercial breaks, that's pretty much how it plays out. The music from the original Airbender show was, despite some cues that reflected the more child-like humor which paired with the narrative tone, always more mature than your standard kids' fare, which is how it garnered fans amongst other age groups as well.

With "Legend of Korra", that maturity is elevated to an even more prominent role. There's less of a reliance on synthesized instrumentation this time around, in what feels like a larger orchestral presence. Again, this is appropriate as the story itself has matured in dealing with darker elements.

This music is a pleasure to listen to with or without the accompanying visuals, and doubtless holds much replay value.

Altogether highly recommended.

It's a little shorter than I'd hoped for, but it's very, very good! Avatar was a wonderful series that had memorable, incredibly well-done music. Korra brings the team back together and the magic is still there.

The soundtrack is sometimes a little jazzy, perfect for the slightly more modern feel of this sequel series. "Hittin' on All Sixes" is my favorite of these more upbeat numbers. It feels bright and energetic! "Squeaky Rags" is also good, too -- it's very brassy and jaunty.

But there are also plenty of softer songs. "Before" is an especially good example of one of the softer songs -- a little sad and at times, haunting. You can really hear some of the Asian influences in this particular track. It reminds me a bit of music used in traditional Japanese Kabuki theater.

"Amon" and "Chi Blockers" are both especially intense. They sound full of darkness and anger, which of course, makes them work perfectly as the main villainous themes.

Overall, the soundtrack is a fascinating mix of genres, and a definite must-listen for any Avatar or Legend of Korra fan. It really brings you back into the show and reminds you of all the wonderful moments the series had to offer.

A great soundtrack, although I wish the tracks had been arranged in the order from the show, like this:

1. Prologue
2. Firebending Training
3. Fresh Air
4. A Peaceful Place
5. On the Lam
6. The Legend of Korra - Main Title
7. Air Tight
8. Amon
9. Hittin on All Sixes
10. Squeaky Rags
11. Asami and Mako Dine
12. Hardboiled... Afraid (Seperate Ways)
13. Left My Heart in Republic City
14. Chi Blockers
15. Wheels
16. Korra Confronts Tarrlock
17. In a Box
18. An Impossible Crime
19. Republic City Under Attack
20. Being Patient / Beifong's Sacrifice
21. War
22. Before
23. Asami and Hiroshi / Korra Airbends
24. Good Ol' Days
25. Greatest Change
26. The Legend of Korra - End Credits

Also, it would've been nice to have a second disc. Too many of my favourite tracks didn't make the cut.

Ever since Book 1 finished, I had been hoping for it, and I had been waiting for it ever since the creators announced a Legend of Korra soundtrack was going to be released. And now it's here and Zuckerman delivers.

It's pretty much what I expected and a bit more, too. The blend of eastern and western flavored music that first exploded in the animated series is here, and it's what we, the fans wanted. The only complaints I have are similar to others: It's short, and leaves me hungry for more, even though I'm listening to the soundtrack repeatedly. Don't take the "it's too short" complaint too seriously, though. It's a good compilation of the music from Book 1 of Legend of Korra. There's also a track I had expected there, but wasn't (it's unofficially called "The Rally" by fans). It's too bad the soundtrack is just too good, because I don't actually mind that this track isn't there.

Thank you to Zuckerman, the creators of Legend of Korra. And thank you to Nickelodeon for finally listening to the fans. Because many of us actually wanted to buy the soundtrack.

Plan "B" (boycott anyone?)
David, I can understand you feeling strongly about the Avatar: The Last Airbender soundtrack. However, I believe your anger is clouding your thinking. Being "angry and resentful" is not conducive to clear thinking and good decision making. It makes you want to lash out at someone, which... Read More

What about The Last Airbender!?!?!
Hi Jared,

Jeremy Zuckerman mentioned that it was really hard to get this album released and that if a lot of people show interest and buy this album it would make it that much easier to get The Avatar: The Last Airbender soundtrack out.
