About the Author

I’m an avid reader and former teacher of grammar and composition who believes that falling in love is the grandest adventure anyone can have. In a nutshell, that’s every story I have to tell.

More About the Author

I am a former English grammar and composition instructor who relocated from sunny Southern California to the countryside of Illinois a bit more than a year ago. I occupy my days here with gardening, reading and writing. Falling in love has been the biggest adventure of my life, and I hope to share that with readers through my writing.

When Valentine Michaels and Adrian Gray were in college years ago, they were roommates. Both gay, both experiencing life away from home. Adrian's family was supportive, Val's ignored him. Adrian was rather straight laced and conservative, Val has blue hair.

They became good friends, and Adrian listened and supported Val through boyfriend problems. For one brief week, they became more than friends. Then Val moved on to his next boyfriend, breaking Adrian's heart. But he decided to remain a good friend.

So for the next ten years, Adrian did just that. Listened to stories and griping about Val's many, many boyfriends, all muscular jocks, just like the guy he dumped Adrian for. When Val becomes a cosmetologist and works at a salon, then buys it, Adrian faithfully gets his hair cut there every Friday.

So when Val breaks up with his latest boy toy and swears off men, vowing to remain celibate, Adrian sees his opening. He has been observing Val for all these many years and knows what he did wrong. So he plans, plots and makes his move. He will make Val his.

Will his plan work? Or will Val shoot him down one more time?

This is a great and gratifying, fun and fabulous story about knowing what you want and going for it. Adrian is cat - laying back and waiting for his chance then swooping in and getting his prize. And Val, such a clueless guy who thinks he has all the answers. So sweet and stuck.

This is a short work, but Lee Brazil packs a novel's worth of feeling, joy and heart into it. He always manages to create memorable characters in...unusual...situations, and I always have a smile in my face and warm feeling in my heart when I finish one of his works.

Very very good.

The Librarian by Lee Brazil
* I received this ARC free from the author in exchange for an honest review*

Adrian has been in love with Val since their freshman year at college. They had a wonderful week together that he will never forget but it doesn't seem like Val remembers. He has a long standing weekly hair appointment with Val that he looks forward to, even if all Val talks about is his love life.

The one bright spot in Val's life is Adrian's weekly hair appointment. He has come to count on that visit more than he realizes because Adrian is the only constant in his life. His love life is in the toilet and he has sworn off men, now Adrian has gone and changed the game. He has never considered Adrian as more than a friend but his actions are causing Val to re-evaluate what he wants out of life.

This book pulled me in from the beginning. The connection between Val and Adrian was obvious from the beginning; it just took Val a little while to figure out what he wanted. Adrian was an interesting character to watch grow. He may be a book worm but over the years he has explored his sexual desires and learned what he wants and needs. He has grown and matured but Val never noticed until he was ready for him to.

It was fun watching their cat and mouse game, especially the waxing scene. Val thought he was being sneaky but Adrian turned the tables on him. Val has given him all the ammunition he needs to win his heart during their weekly haircut sessions, Adrian just had to put it to use.
I love that the book centered on Val and Adrian with minimal secondary characters. The few that were introduced only added to the story like Val's assistant and Adrian's co-worker.

Adrian and Val have a history. In college, Adrian fell for his roommate Val, but after a brief affair, the relationship ended. Luckily, the friendship continued with Adrian having his hair cut by Val every week. Ever since their short fling, Adrian has wanted more.

Val is tired of men and has taken a vow of celibacy. He never imagined his old friend Adrian would be able to surprise him after all these years. Could a relationship between these two men really happen?

Oh wow. I loved these two guys!

Even though Val always blabs about his current conquests when he is cutting Adrian's hair, Adrian is definitely in charge. When Val decides to go celibate, I loved how Adrian took over the situation. The story did not only showcase how Adrian not only nudged Val into a romantic relationship, but also how Adrian suggested potential move to benefit Val's business.

Although the story is told in third person, the reader receives the most input from Adrian. We understand him because he tells us why. Val is much more subtle. Why does he have blue hair? Why does he date the same type of guy? Val doesn't tell the reader directly, but his actions eventually do enlighten the reader. So, I absolutely loved how each character perspective was told in his personal perspective. Adrian is inherently much more direct than Val, which translate in the storytelling. Marvelous!

The Librarian is a must read. This novella has seamless storytelling and memorable characters. Anyone wanting a intriguing short story about two great guys, this is your book. Go. Buy. It!
